i will be roughly 8 weeks at my first sono, I cannot wait to see this little peanit!! at 8 weeks, you can see and hear the heart beating right?

Internal...I had one a 6 weeks with my first and we saw the HB and at 9 weeks with this one and we saw the HB as well.

i had one at almost 7 weeks and it was external. every sono since has also been external.

i'm 8w6d today and all my sonos so far have been internal. the tech told me that they'll switch to external after 12 weeks. we heard the heartbeat again yesterday and it's so amazing! what is the date of your sono? very exciting!

not until 9/23  I will actually be more like 9 weeks  This is going to be a LONG 3.5 weeks!

i hear ya! i've had like 5 sonos already because of all the issues i was having (spotting, non typical hcg #'s) and now i don't have another one until our 12 week mark which is in the middle of september too. i'm SO happy the baby is doing well but i'm not used to waiting so long between sonos! hopefully it will go by quickly for both of us!

I think it will depend on the OBs machine. My second visit the OB had a really advanced machine. He did internal we got really clear images and could hear heartbeat with a touch of a button. I got a roll of film from the session.
I was changing OBs and met with another one with a really old machine she had to use a separate device on top of my belly and search for heartbeat and did a really grainy sono externally. She couldn't even print a picture for me.
It seems that if they have good machines they prefer internal, as I think its easier to find the fetus that way.
