SICK & need TTC med advice
I'm on the 2 ww...and I believe I have bronchitis & have had it for almost 2 weeks I don't have health insurance so I can't go to dr., so I reached out to my friend who's a nurse, she recommended I take mucinex & drink lots of water but I am sick of this cough & really want antibiotics. Can I take antibiotics? Can I take mucinex? TIA

Re: SICK & need TTC med advice
Antibiotics only normally help bacterial infections i believe, not bronchitis. I had a UTI and they gave me Macrobid bc its safe during pregnancy in case I am.
Not to go off topic - but if you won't go to the dr b/c you have no insurance now, what will happen when you get pregnant? Dr. visits and hopital costs for birth are expensive for some people WITH insurance.
eta: I had a BAD case of bronchitis last year and needed a z-pack and 3 inhalers. the inhalers were steriod. Im not sure if they were safe to use pregnant bc i wasnt ttc.

As for insurance, I am not eligible for it at work yet, but will be in a few weeks. Also, the state offers healthcare to PG women in case anyone needs it...(I live in FL)

When I had bronchitis last year the dr. said it was viral and wouldn't give me antibiotics. I would call your local pharmacist about taking Mucinex while TTC...
Feel better!

heather, mucinex is what GOT me pregnant in the first place! it's very, very good for ALL kinds of mucus - inclusing CM it actually makes a more hospitable environment around your cervix where the sperm enter the uterus!

Oh wow I didn't know FL did that - how great. Im sorry you don't have insurance yet to take care of YOU!!
Most of the good drugs to help you probably isn't preggo safe anyway - stick with the mucinex and get lots of fluids and try to relax as much as possible.
Feel better

Hope you feel better Heather!! Lisa, 'headoverheels' said this "heather, mucinex is what GOT me pregnant in the first place! it's very, very good for ALL kinds of mucus - inclusing CM it actually makes a more hospitable environment around your cervix where the sperm enter the uterus!" So, day one of mucinex...I took it a few hours ago & the coughing is still here but different, maybe the mucus (sorry TMI) is breaking up. JUST GO AWAY ALREADY! It's O day, so let's hope I get rid of the cough & knocked up a TWOFER!

That would be totally SWEET if that happened I knew I remembered reading about mucinex when I first started TTC because I actually used it. I dont know if it helped but I guess it didnt hurt.

Re: SICK & need TTC med advice
Bronchitis can be bacterial, but most of the time it's viral (which antibiotics are useless). In any case, I believe you can take antibiotics if you need them. Same with Mucinex.

Lots of decaf tea w/ honey. Also gargle with some salt water. Also those really gross tasting riccola drops help. The original square ones. They work like a charm. As my grandmother always said take a spoon full of honey.
