I'm freaking out right now....Am I wrong???
Obviously I am posting under a fake name.....DH's brother tried to commit suicide Monday night. Long story short he was in the hospital and his parents wanted him to stay in the rehabiliation program and the hospital literally just sent him home saying they don't feel anything is wrong with him. They didn't even put him on medication. DH just tells me he wants to bring the kids over there tonight. Is he freakin kidding me???????? Am I nuts??? Do you see anything wrong with this??

not if your DH is going to be there with them. Im not sure I would feel comfy leaving them ALONE with the brother. But with you or DH, I wouldn't have an issue.

I agree.
It might be good for your BIL.

I would bring them to see him personally --- you are not leaving them in his care, it's just a visit....and a dose of family may do him a world of good

honestly, hes not gonna kill himself in front of your kids, and i think it would be nice if he saw that he has all of your support right now..i imagine what he is going through is worse than most people can imagine.. if you think he poses a threat to your children, like hes "crazy" or "dangerous" to you.. which im sorry but most suicidal manic depressives arent, then i agree, keep them home.

I agree ~ being around family might be a good idea. Show him your support and love

Your DH should ask your brother if he wants to see the kids. When my dad tried to kill himself he told me flat out that he didn't want the kids around while everyone was still upset. It was hard enough for him to face the adults in the family, he didn't want to have to pretend so as to not scare the kids.

It actually might be good for him, but I can totally see why you are freaking out.

He never comes down from his room when they come over to visit.

I agree with Cathy. BIL should want visitors, they shouldn't be forced on him at this point
