I started taken prenantal vitamin right after DH and I decided to start TTC. How come they make me sick and does this happen to anybody else?
I had to start taking them at night.

I take the rainbow lite ones from target & an omega at night before bed. Taking them before bed really helps with a full glass of water.
what brand are you taking?

Re: prenatal vitamin's
IDK I was taken them in the am on an empty stomach, then drinking my daily cup of coffee so maybe that's what upset my stomach.

I definitely wouldn't take them on an empty stomach. Try the Rainbow Lite brand...they are made for sensitive stomachs. I've never had a problem with them.

Re: prenatal vitamin's
A lot of women get sick from them. Every vitamin I have ever taken has made me sick, except for the Target brand prenatals. I def wouldn't take them on an empty stomach. Try eating something before you take them, or consider switching brands.

Re: prenatal vitamin's
The new vitamins we bought were making me so sick. I used to take the flintstones chewables and those never upset my stomach, but when I switched over to a different multivitamin, I would get sick. I started taking them at night before bed and that has helped immensely.

Thanks for the info girly's I'm glad I'm not alone on this one and I guess I'll just continue to take them at night before I go to bed.

There's nothing wrong with taking them before hand as far as I know. Lots of women do. They're awful but they're good for you.

Re: prenatal vitamin's
My doctor strongly recommended that I start taking them 3 months before I start to TTC as well. She said it significantly reduces the risk of brain damage and spinabifida. She also said that women who take it before getting pregnant have a greater chance of not having morning sickness.
I have always gotten nauseous on vitamins. The doctor prescribed me Gesticare DHA and I was SO nervous to take it because I am so sensitive with normal vitamins. I actually have had no reaction to them AT ALL. I love them! I take it at night before bed. Also, the Omega is derived from a plant source so you do not get that fishy taste in your mouth that some people say they get.
Hope this was helpful :)

Exactly. In addition, neural tube defects (such as spina bifida and anencephaly - sp?) can be greatly reduced in chance if you have enough folic acid in the first 4 weeks of pregnancy - before you even know you are pregnant! So by the time you find out, if you start taking folic acid then, you may have missed the mark to make the some difference, although not necessarily.
Also, folic acid leaves your system rather quickly (it doesn't build up in your system). So that's why it's also important that you take it every day.
