When you student teach your cooperating teacher is given credits to your college or univeristy. It's usually 1.5 credits. It's so they can take a class themself, more often they sell it to a student at half the tuition price.
Anyone can use those credits to pay for your tuition, sometimes the cooperating teacher has to sign something on it authorizing you to use it. I acutally bought 3 Hofstra credits on Ebay when I was going for my Admin degree.

Buyer beware... some college's credit vouchers are not transferrable. Queens College is really strict about it.
