How many hrs a day does your DH get to see DC?

DH works 5-6 days a week (depending upon the week)

weekdays he's home at 5:30 and some saturday's he's home at 8pm

DD is 8 weeks old and we try to put her to bed at 7-7:30

so during the week, that's 2hrs a day And usually its not the better of her day, cause she's cranky, usually bath time, bottle bed....not a fun time, like in the morning (when DH is at work) and she is kinda responsive/playing

It's kinda sad but I guess I have to get used to it

Just was wondering what the "norm" is out there

It depends on the day. Some days he's her primary care taker and sees her from the moment they wake up till the moment they hit the pillow at night. Other days when he has to work, only a couple of minutes. He works overnights, but an odd, rotating schedule, so some days he needs to sleep all day and then go to work. He has been her primary caregiver during the days since she was born (I work days), so they have a special bond

DH gets her ready for daycare in the morning while I get ready for work, since he leaves later than I do for work. We get her upa t 6:50 and we leave at 7:30. So that's his morning time with her. He makes sure get to home by her bedtime (which is 7:30) as he does her bedtime bottle and puts her to bed. In total during the week, he spends an hour a day with her. Which is basically what I get as well on the days that I work (I work PT)

He only sees them on the weekends.

When he is working, 3-4 hours in the morning, by the time he gets home at night my son is sleeping.

1.5-2 hours a day during the weekdays.

When DH ks his second job, he only see him for a few minutes in the morning. If he is not working his second job then its a few hours.

1.25-2.5 hours in the evening

I pick her up at 4 and he gets home at 5:30. But he also gets her up in the morning, so we see her about the same amount every day.

The kids get up around 7, but he leaves for work at 6:30, so during the week it's just in the evenings. He comes home around 5 and the kids go to bed at 7:30. On the weekends he is with us the whole time.

During the week, DH is home by 6 and he home all weekend except for the summer when he plays softball on Sundays.

Same. DH gets home around 5ish, DS is asleep by 7.

Well, he works overnights

So he usually sees DS from about 7.30am til about 11.30am when he goes to sleep.

Then he sees him for a bit (like 1/2 hour) before he goes to sleep.

But for a long time, he was DS' primary caregiver and saw him all day long.

I am very lucky. DH has an extremely flexible schedule and he takes care of her all morning. I have to be at work at 7 AM, so he feeds her, plays with her, dresses her and drops her off for daycare.

Most nights he is home around 6. He can get home as early as 4 on some days and as late as 9 on others.

He is spending the day with her today while I get my hair done. Yay!

When I saw the word hours, I thought if only. On weekdays, he sees DS about 20-30 minutes in the evening, maybe 5 or 10 minutes in the morning, that's it. DS goes to bed at 8, and DH gets home 7:30 or 8 at the earliest. There are also days he doesn't see DS at all, or only sees him a few minutes in the morning before he leaves. Weekends he tries to spend more time with DS and we always try to do some family thing, even if it's simple like going to the library or the park.

We would like it to be different, but with a commute into the city, he can't get home much earlier or leave much later than he does, so at least for now, this is the way it is.

So I would say 2 hours is pretty good, though of course you would always like it to be more.

some days not at all...other days 3-4 hours before he leaves for work.

if we are in a bad week, i bring him to dh's job.

over the summer it was morning until night - since we were home and DH works from home.

now that school is back in session - DH drops them off in the morning and then I bring them home at about 4 - 4:30 - so about 7 hours a day.

DH is with her in the morning before he drops her off at daycare since I have to leave very early.

At night it is hit or miss. Sometimes he is home before she goes to bed and sometimes he isn't.

Usually only on the weekends.....most days he leaves the house before 6 or 7am and gets home anywhere from 9pm-midnight. If he has a really last night he will go in a little later the next day and see DS for a few minutes that morning.

It is getting hard on DH, although he always hated the fact that he didn't see DS during the week, now that DS is older and asks for him more and is more of a "buddy" to him it is hard on both of them (and me!!) So DH tries to always do something with him on the weekend just the 2 of them.

When we are both working he gets more time than I do. He gets Alex to school when I'm working, I leave very early, so he's with her from 6:30am-9am most mornings. I come home around 5pm, he gets home around 5:30pm, so he gets another few hours with her in the evening, from 5:30pm-8:30pm. So overall, about 6 hours a day...

I think I get to see DC more than the average dad, and I only see them for 3 hours a night during the week. I'm with them most of the time on the weekends, though.

He gets about 2 hours at night. He's gone before she gets up in the morning.
I get to see her for about an hour in the morning and then about 3.5 hours at night.

My DH takes care of our children during the day so I am the one who gets to see our 5 month old for 3 hours and our 3 year old for 4 hours each day. DH goes to work when I get home and I take care of the night routine. I know that we aren't the norm.

depends on the day. M-F, DH has my DS from 7AM-3PM so he sees him a lot.

DH works the weekends so its the mommy show pretty much

Dh dropped down to 5 days. He was working 7 during the summer.

He sees our sons on tuesday and wednesday all day. On the days that he works, he sees them for 20 minutes in the morning. By the time he gets home, they're sleeping.
