Anyone familiar with an AAC device?
My son is in the process of being evaluated to see if he'll benefit from one (he has apraxia)....anyone familiar with the device? Anything you can tell me about it? Thanks.

Re: Anyone familiar with an AAC device?
I'm a speech pathologist...
There are a lot of different types of AAC devices that can range from low-tech to very high-tech.
Do you know what kind of device they are thinking about?
AAC just stands for augmentative and alternative communication - so it can range anywhere from a picture system to a computerized device...

Re: Anyone familiar with an AAC device?
I'm actually not sure. My son has apraxia. He is 4 and just starting to say syllables that sound like words. Both his therapists are recommending that he be evaluated for one, but they have not told me anything more.
