Spinoff: what books have you read lately and were they good or not?
I was stuck on James Patterson for a while and got tired of reading them. I go through phases where I like thrillers and where I can't stand to read them anymore.
The last non-thriller book I read was The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. It got a lot of hype from people I knew but I was a little disappointed. I was a little upset at the ending.

I just finished the Dark Tide by Andrew Gross (who works with Patterson)
It was really good - more of a drama then a thriller.
Now I just started the 8th confession by Patterson.

I just finished the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series. I needed my Eric fix.
It's a quick, fun read.

I'm reading the second of Kristen Gore's books, Sammy's House. I love it, and I loved Sammy's Hill as well.

I am reading the In Death series by J.D. Robb (Nora Robert's pen name). Kind of like Women's murder club takes place in the future. I am on book 4 and I like the series a lot. I am a super fast reader and there are 28-29 books in this series so I definitely like that!

I've read books 1-7 in the past two weeks. They are so great. I'm hoping to get 8 and 9 from the library soon. Its not intellectual literature, but so much fun and addicting.

I just finished Wicked: The life and times of the Witch of the West. I have to say, I didn't really care for it. I finished it just to finish it.

I just finished Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult. It was good, but a little too drawn out and predictable IMO.

I like that series too. Too bad Roarke is fictional.
I recently read The Lost Constitution by William Martin and liked it. Going to start his first book, Back Bay, next.
Also just got the first in the Brotherhood of the Black Dagger series.

I LOVE these books!! I have always read Nora Roberts and it took me a while to give the "futuristic" books a shot and now I look forward to them more than her regular books!
I also enjoy the Janet Evanovich books too, super fast entertaining reads!

Re: Spinoff: what books have you read lately and were they good or not?
Just finished 4 books in the last 2 months
April & Oliver. It was okay.. there wasn't a lot of subtlety imbued relevant to the personalities of the characters and although the story had promise it never really lifted and delivered the way I hoped throughout the book. But it did keep me turning the pages. The ending was something of a let down for me.
The Bride Will Keep Her Name - is one that I enjoyed - very light, breezy read that gave some mystery and some romance. Cute.
Mercury in Retrograde was an easy read but just... cheap. Cartoonish characters, thin plot - kind of a rip off of every 'single girls in the city' book or movie you've ever read. I wouldn't waste your time.
Let The Right One In was CREEPY. Really good - but twisted and dark. I watched the movie - which gave the characters a lot more sweetness than the book. The book had me wincing at parts. But it was a really good, very layered story with themes including loneliness, love and the need to feel connected.

I just finished Loving Frank, and it was ok until the end - the ending was great and made the book.
Read the Hunger Games too, it was awesome! Can't wait to read the next one.
