Re: Do majority of twin moms have a c section?

My Ob said theres always a small possibility that they will both be head down to do a vaginal birth, but he also said he has seen that once one baby is delivered the second twin has alot more room and can flip and then become breech. Just hearing that I am most likely just doing c-section I would hate to have a natural birth then have to have a c-section also.

I too hear it is 50/50. I had a c-section. One twin was breech and one was head down.

Both were head down for me but not until a week before.

My doc assured me that as long as Twin A was head down I could deliver both vaginally because...

now brace yourself...

he'd just reach up in there and turn DS around

OK, he didn't say it like that but that's what I heard!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

For me twin a was head down from the beginning and twin b turned head down at the end. I delivered A vaginally and then B turned, her heartrate fell and I had to have an emergency c-section. They warned me that could happen but I'm happy I tried to do both vaginally.

I really, really wanted to have them vaginally, but twin A was breech, so that was the end of that.

My Dr's told me the same thing. I was planning on a vag birth but I ended up getting preeclampsia and had an emergency c at 35.5 weeks.

Mine were both head down from about 30 weeks and I was trying for a v-birth. After being induced fr 4 days I had a c-section since one of them was very small and needed to come out. I was 35 weeks at the time.

Re: Do majority of twin moms have a c section?

both of mine were vertex so i could have had a vaginal birth. i choose not to after much delibration and i was extramly happy with my decision. The C section was great. i know not everyone agrees but i was thrilled with my whole experience.

Why was the epi not recommended?

Ooppps sorry...

What I meant was...you WANT the epi with twins. Look at it this way. You push the baby out, all that pain, then such glorious relief and joy when the baby arrives...then only to realize that you have to do it all over again..although the second baby does come out quicker.

I didnt have an epi with the girls b/c I went from 6 cms to 10 cms in 10 minutes. There wasnt any time for the epi...

So even if you are like me...who had given birth naturally without meds in the past...go for the epi with a twin birth. Highly recommended on my part.

That’s exactly what happened my first pregnancy. The second time I got the epi. This time if I have a vaginal birth I am going straight for it. Chat Icon
