how to lose the last 20 pounds
Why does the last 20 pounds take longer to lose? So far i have lost 40 pounds. I have not changed any of my routine with the diet and working out. Is there something I can do? Thank you.

Thats the problem. You SHOULD be changing up your workout routine. After a while your body get used doing the same thing. You need to change it up to get past your plateau.
BTW: Congrats on losing 40lbs! I can't wait to get there! I needed to lose about 60lbs also and so far I am down 16 lbs.

Congrats on your weight loss!!!
I agree with the PP that you need to mix up your routine. Are you incorporating cardio & some weight training? I am trying to lose 30 lbs and I am running 3X a week and then doing other activities (yoga, weights) so that my body doesn't start to fizzle out at one weight.

Thank you everyone for your help. Yes, I walk for a half hour everyday, and go to the gym 3-4 times a week. Thanks again.

Congrats!
I agree with changing your routine. Maybe do some more cardio, but mix it with strength training. Also, eat more!! And switch it up. Maybe focus on more protein, less carbs.

Congratulations on losing so much weight already! I agree with the others- switch up your workout routine and what you are eating. If that doesn't work you may want to pay more attention to portions and calorie intake. It may be that you need to reduce your portions or calories. I do weight watchers and after every 10 pounds or so that you lose, you need to reduce the calories you eat in a day by about 50-75. Good luck!

Try sprints. So if you're doing cardio, whatever it is, work in 1-2 minute sprints at regular intervals where you go as fast as you can and then go a regular pace, then as fast as you can, regular pace, etc.
It's really supposed to help burn calories and get your metabolism revved up. Also try a higher free weight or a higher resistance if you're doing cardio machines.
