Can someone tell me about Hempstead
Hi, can anyone tell me about Hempstead? I "think" i may be interested in the area called Cathedral Gardens. How is this area: between cathedral and westminister. (and Hempstead turnpike and 1st) I know Hempstead has a bad school district but my kids are currently in private school even though our district is decent and we intend to keep the children in private school. I like Garden City a lot but I don't think I can afford what I kinda want in GC and Hempstead near GC is much more affordable.

Re: Can someone tell me about Hempstead
Cathedral Gardens is absolutely GORGEOUS! it has the garden city feel without the pricetag. There are a lot of gorgeous colonials and tudors. Some parts of it may be West Hempstead school district, which is a lot better than Hempstead. However, if the house is in Hempstead SD, you are really going to have to commit to private education K-12 IMO, because the SD has a lot of problems (but i think you said you will do that anyway).

you wouldn't happen to know if there is a bad section of cathedral gardens? that, i don't know, but i agree that if you had to pick anywhere in Hempstead to live Cathedral Gardens is your best bet.
i personally would never do it - i'd go just a bit further west to W. Hempstead. Cathedral Ave is too close to N. Franklin for my comfort.

I personally would NEVER do it either, no matter how good the price tag or small section of nice homes. the area itself to drive through and around is not good, sorry to anyone who does live there, just my opinion. I drive through hempstead everytime I go to my dads in franklin square taking hempstead turnpike and I speed through that area.
you should drive there at all different times of the day.
try west hempstead price range is decent and much better!
