trying again
I had a d&c a little over 2 weeks ago and we want to start trying again right away (ubless my doc wants us to go for further tests). Now my question: Do I wait for AF before trying? This probably sounds silly. What I'm thinking is, is it possible to get PG in the time between d&c and first AF? I am wondering if we should be using protection until AF comes or just go for it.
So confused and anxious to get going.

Re: trying again
My doctor recommended that I wait 1 cycle before trying again. But it is possible to get pregnant inbetween a D&C and AF.
So sorry for your loss.

Re: trying again
I have heard of many people getting pregnant in btwn the D&C and their next AF.
I was scared to try so soon. I did not want to go through another mc again.
Most every DR. will advise against that and tell you to wait till after atleast 1 or 2 normal cycles.
They tell you to wait some times a month or two...to allow the endometrium to build back up, since alot of it gets scraped away during the D&C.
I just read this in an article too.
"Additionally, after a D&C, there can be a low-grade inflammatory response in the uterus that may interfere with pregnancy, making the risk of repeat miscarriage a bit higher in the first post-D&C cycle. "
I would ask you doctor and then follow is advice.
Goodluck!!! I hope you are doing better.

Re: trying again
Personally, I'd wait... I got PG before AF after my 1st MC and MC again...

Re: trying again
I've heard you can get pregnant between the d&c and your first period. My dr told us to wait 2 cycles of getting AF before we started again. 1 reason was to build up my utereus again after the d&c. The second was so that I could know my cycle and be able to tell how far along any pregnancy was.

Re: trying again
I'm sorry for your loss. My neighbor got pg before getting AF by only BDing once! it can happen..my doc said wait one cycle. I don't think it's dangerous I just think they have a lot of trouble dating the pregnancy...

Re: trying again
The OB who preformed my procedure told me to wait 2 cycles & my regular OB told me one was fine. Its useful for you to rebuild and to date the pregnancy. Good luck & sorry for your loss.

Re: trying again
you know, i didn't even ask my doc how long to wait. I assumed at least 1 cycle...but we ended up waiting 6, just b/c we weren't ready. I have heard of people getting PG right away after a D&C but id prob wait 1 cycle.
Sorry for your loss and good luck to you!

Re: trying again
I'm sorry for your loss My doctor recommended waiting 2 cycles. I know lots of doctors recommend waiting until you get AF at least once before tyring again.

Re: trying again
I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss And I totally understand you wanting to try again ASAP. But personally I'd wait at least ONE cycle. At least until you get AF again to make sure that everything is back on schedule.

Re: trying again
Sorry for your loss. I felt the same way when I had the D/C. I just wanted to move on and get PG again. I was told to wait 2 cycles. Its a crappy wait but I promise time passes quickly
