Unthinkable is here! (I co-wrote this book)

Imagine you were 18 years old, riding on the back of a pick-up truck as you worked a summer landscaping job with your friends. You're about to go off to college, and this is your last summer all together as a group. Then the unthinkable happens.

Your pick-up truck collides with an 18-wheeler. You're launched out of the back and thrown onto the road, where your leg gets trapped and you get dragged 324 feet along the asphalt.

That's what happened to Scott Rigsby, who lost both of his legs as a result of that accident. We wrote a book together, Unthinkable, and it's in stock now on Amazon.

For many years, Scott was lost and depressed, and couldn't figure out a purpose for his life. Then, while browsing at a bookstore, he saw two physically challenged athletes on the covers of magazines. Inspiration took hold, and in 2007, Scott became the first-ever double-amputee to complete the Hawaiian Ironman triathlon... yes, the one that's televised every year on NBC. It's a crazy physical challenge that even most able-bodied athletes can't complete. But Scott felt something telling him that God wanted him to do this. He made history, and broke down barriers for other physically challenged people, showing them that sometimes the "impossible" is possible.

This book has a lot of heart, and I think it's of interest whether you're into triathlons or not. At its core, it's a story about faith and overcoming the odds. I sure hope you'll read it and let us know what you think.

How fantastic! I will absolutely buy this book - because it sounds interesting and because I would love to support an LIF author!

Curious - how did you connect with Scott Rigsby.. were you friends or was he looking for a co-contributer and somehow you got linked up?

Re: Unthinkable is here! (I co-wrote this book)

Thank you so much!

Actually, I've written 19 books, so most of the people I write with find me and ask me to co-write or ghostwrite with them. That was the case with Scott. I didn't know him beforehand, but he had a manager who was asking around, looking for a good ghostwriter. An editor of mine recommended me.

He was awesome to work with. I love it when I get to work with people who really inspire me-- and I've been lucky to do that time and again. Right now I'm working with Susan Markowitz, whose son Nick was murdered in 2000-- it was the basis of the movie Alpha Dog. She is a tremendously strong woman who gives me perspective about what's important in life.

One of my biggest life-changers was when I worked with Celine Dion. She's a terrific, down-to-earth lady who taught me a lot about fame and motherhood and why I'm glad I never became the "big star" I had always wanted to be. Made me realize I'm happy just where I am!

Thank you! It might be a little early for this, but my brother in law's nephew just lost one of his legs in a bad motorcycle accident 2 weeks ago. I'll keep it in mind as an uplifting, inspirational read for when he is out of the hospital. Chat Icon

Wow, greenfreak. I'm so glad you saw this thread. Please do give him Scott's website address, too... Scott is always happy to correspond with amputees who might need a little pep talk. www.scottrigsby.com
