In office D&C
I am in the process of another miscarriage. I am hoping to miscarry naturally, as my beta numbers are low, but I have been waiting for a while now. I got referred to an obgyn that will do the D&C in her office. My RE highly recommended her. My regular Obgyn, I have not seen in a while and do not feel comfortable with her doing the procedure. I had one in the hospital last year. I am a little hesitant to do it this way, in an office. Has anyone had an in office one? Do they not knock you out? Thanks

Re: In office D&C
My recommendation is to NOT do it.....I can only go off my own experience but it was extremely traumatic. They DO NOT knock you out and you are awake and hear everything! They give you a local (which i thought meant knocked me out lol) which numbs it...but you still feel pain and pressure. It hurt bad I can remember every second of it and I would never do it again.

oh my goodness that sounds awful! So sorry you had to go through that!
in that case...I would have to agree with not doing it in the office.

that is terrible...i was given the option to do my 2nd D&C in the office but i was told i would be put out. Ended up doing it at the hospital anyway for scheduling reasons.
I would say do it at the hospital unless you can be put out...i'm so sorry for you loss. Please let me know if you need to talk.

Re: In office D&C
I am sorry you have to make this choice.
I had a D&C with just a spinal, I was talking to the doctors during the procedure, I didn't have a problem with not being under a general.
Good luck!

Re: In office D&C
So sorry you are going through this. Unless I was knocked out completely, I would not have an in office D&C. I felt extremely comfortable being in the hospital, but it is a personal decision. Good luck.
