xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
My due date was yesterday, had my app't today and i'm not dilated. I'm extremely uncomfortable due to horrible heartburn, but my doctor will not discuss inducing yet.
She put me on the fetal monitor and checked fluids. She said everything is great & is not concerned. I have a growth sono for Monday and another internal for Thursday. If I don't go by Thursday she said we will speak more about it then.
Anyone else doctor against it? Just concerned b/c I have a friend that was due the same day and her dr has her scheduled for Monday.

My doctor isn't against it. He just waits a week before doing the induction unless it MUST be done prior he would. I've heard that is the norm with many doctors.

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
I was 11 days late w/ DD. and that was my Drs office policy. They had me coming in Fri morning to talk induction and I finally went into labor on Thurs night just before midnight.

Mine is not against it but if there is nothing going on with you I understand why your Dr. would be resistant. If your body doesn't cooperate, it will increase your risk of a c-section.
I was induced with DD-about 10 days early. But, I was dilated and had made some progress before.

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
When I pregnant with my DS they wouldnt induce me and I kept begging...I was still sick with m/s and past my due date throwing up but b/c mu fluids looked good and the baby was fine they refused to induce (and I was 3 CM and 90% effaced at the time). He came on his own (was a week late) or else they would have induced 2 weeks past my due date. However, my friend is in the same practice and had some swelling in her feet and hands (proteins were fine though, no preclampsia) and they were thinking of inducing her around 38.5-39 weeks Meanwhile DS was a summer baby so by the end my hands and feet were swollen too and nope, they wouldnt do anything for me...go figure.

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
My doctor was against it with DC #1.
Inducing can cause uneccessary complications and if the baby is comfy and not ready to come out yet, there's no reason to do it.
I agreed, even though I was uncomfortable. DC was 6 days late. My last appointment the doctor scraped the membranes. Maybe suggest that at your next appointment. But I will warn you, I was in labor for 36 hours, so I don't think I was really ready yet.

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
My dr said he wouldnt consider induction til at least 10 days past my due date and i was so happy to hear that
I personally am all for the natural process. I know the waiting is hard, but IMO, our bodies know what to do and i want mine to do what it needs to

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
My Dr. wasn't against it with DS, but at my last appointment he said that if I missed my due date to call to schedule an induction for 2 weeks later! Good thing I went into labor on time because if I had to wait 2 weeks past my due date I think I would have killed someone!

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
my midwife won't induce until 2 weeks after my due date (as long as all is healthy with mom and baby). It is actually one of the things that made me choose the group I went with.

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
Thanks everyone! I feel much better after doing some reading up on inducing. Guess we will just wait it out and let nature take its course!

Re: xpost: Anyone's doctor against inducing??
That doesn't sound like your doctor is against it, but a normal gestational period is anywhere up to 42 weeks and many doctors don't like to induce until you are at least a week overdue. Induction is not always a very nice procedure and leads to a higher risk of a C-section, so imo sounds like your doc is doing what they think is best for you right now!
See you it goes over the next few days, and then make your decision.
Signed, I was 11 days late with my first and had a 3 day induction.
