Does it ever get any easier?

Today is 11 months since my Grandmother passed away and it still hurts as if it were today that she passed. I can't believe it's been almost a year since she died. This time last year my life was consumed with doctor phonecalls and some of the toughest decisions I've ever made in my life. I couldn't imagine my life without her. And here I am 11 months later still trying to figure out how I get through each day without her. Does it ever get easier?

Honestly....no. With my grandparents passing it got easier to deal with but when my mom passed in 2007 I still feel the same pain I did that day. I think that we just learn how to deal with the pain but the pain never goes away.

I agree. I feel the same way about my grandparents, but when my father passed away it was worse. It's been 3 years and it hurts just as much today as it did then. People tried to tell me time will heal, but I've realized (and try to tell others) that the pain doesn't go away you just learn how to deal with it.

I was very young when my Grandparents passed away so b/c of that I think it has been easier. My Dad passed away when I was 21 & while it has gotten a little better the pain is still huge. I don't think it will ever go away.

I agree with everyone, when my mom passed away in 2004 I thought I couldn't go through a day without her, it's amazing the pain will never go away but somehow you learn to cope with it better. I have my own personal guardian angel who always is watching over me....
