demodex mange

Hi

My dog was diagnosed with Demodex mange. Has anyone elses dog ever had this?

Misty doesn't have it, but I had a Doberman who had it when he was a pup. It's not like regular mange, it's genetic and not an insect like sarcoptic mange. When my Dobie had it, the vet prescribed a cream that I had to put on him a couple times a day. It finally went away (probably took a month or so) and the hair grew back. BTW, he had it on his nose.

Good luck, it's not that horrible a thing.

Hi Do you know the name of the cream? The vet prescribed an oral med-ivorec for my dog and never ordered a topical. My dog hates the med.

Fascinus, my Pug had severe demodetic mange when he was a puppy. So severe that he had to get a dip once every 3weeks for 6 months. He was given a salve at the end of his treatment just for flareups. I have to look at his pet records to see what it was called though. He never had it again after that.

Hi

My puppy was also diagnosed with the demotex mange. We have been giving her the oral Ivermectin for 2 weeks now and I have to say it is clearing up nicely. She goes back on Thursday for an evaluation so hopefully she will not have to be on it much longer.
