Not Sure Where to Post This - Pregnancy after a vasectomy???

I'm a regular poster - and in hiding for obvious reason...

Is it possible and/or do you know anyone who's gotten pregnant after a zero sperm count from a vasectomy?? The vasectomy was about 5 years ago.

I'm 7 days late...I'm trying not to flip out.

Any experience or advice would be SO MUCH appreciated!!!

I don't have info, but have you taken an HPT? By 7 days late, it would show up + or you could go get a blood test at your doctor's to confirm.

It's also possible that you just ovulated late and that your AF is on it's way. Chat Icon

I have heard of women getting pregnant after their DH has gotten a vasectomy. Why don't you take a HOT and put yourself at ease? Chat Icon And of course... update all of us! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Not Sure Where to Post This - Pregnancy after a vasectomy???

Joe had a vasectomy before we were together and the way they did there was no chance they would reconnect naturally. Joe's was cut and tied very short. How was his done? I have heard of those that are just cut can regrown togethe rin time.

We did a reversal to get pg, but my suggestion is this......take a HPT and have your man get his sperm checked. Most docs after 5yrs like you to come back in and have it rechecked anyways.

Medically, unlike a tubal ligation, a vasectomy is not foolproof. Before you freak, take a HPT and then freak if it is positive. You can get pregnant despite a vasectomy.

The "tube" was removed from the scrotum and the end was quarterized, then the tube was replaced in the scrotum. Nothing was cut. It was burned and sealed together.

Re: Not Sure Where to Post This - Pregnancy after a vasectomy???

So I took a test 2 days ago - it was a blue dye test - CVS brand. There is a faint can-hardly-see-it line - and I suspect it's an evaporation line.

But then I read about the blue dye tests and apparently they aren't great.

So...now I'm 9 days late....I'm nauseous all day long (typical symptom for me in the first trimester) but I'm still betting that I'm not pregnant - it just can't be...I keep telling myself that IF I was PG, then by NOW surely a test would indicate a BFP!!

Right??
Should I take a different test? Maybe a pink dye test? When I was pregnant last time, I got a BFP before my period was even late...
