What to do w/DH
We've been ttc for eight months now with no luck. My MD wants to test dh before testing me. However, dh keeps putting it off, always until the next month. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, any advice on what to do? TIA

DH did the same thing...my doctor just encouraged him and told him that if he does it, its avoiding a problem later on. My doctor also reassured him that if his count is low there are other ways to get pg.

Re: What to do w/DH
I just dont understand this with DHs. My Dh was fine with it - he went right in and did his business and was fine about it. But some friends I know didnt have the same luck with their DH.
I dont know what they are afraid of. Its one simple thing - something the even enjoy doing - and thats it. Its NOT invasive at all and takes about 2 minutes! If they had to go through HALF of what women have to go through to get tested....they just have no idea.
It really upsets me when I hear this. Does he know what kind of invasive tests you will have to go through?

Re: What to do w/DH
I've tried explaining the tests that I will have to go through to him.
I think what it boils down to is that he's afraid--afraid that the results will not be good. I've told him again and again that I would rather know so that we could either do something about it or look at other alternatives.

That is the difference between Men & Women. We want to know if there are any problems...while Men would rather not know...I wonder if they feel like they are less than a man if there is a problem with their sperm count.
I hope that DH changes his mind

Re: What to do w/DH
I think it was DebG who posted about this a long time ago...but basically she explained to her DH that she had to go through all these tests...and all he had to do was produce a sample in a cup. So, she said to him...what if you had to go through some type of medical procedure with all kinds of invasive tests and somehow they needed to test me, and when all was said and done, all I had to do was spit in a cup and that found the problem. Or something to that effect....Deb, if you read this, please tell the story better.
Anyway...I kind of used this same logic on DH and he was like, ok, no problem. He did the SA, it was painless and when they told him he had superman counts for sperm that put a big smile for the whole afternoon

Basically I told DH this... "How would you like it if you had to get an invasive anal probe only to find out the problem was with me all along and all I would have had to do is pee in a cup to discover it? Wouldn't you be ticked off that you had to get your arse violated for nothing? That seemed to work with him.
