STAR Program
We're first time homeowners and I applied for STAR about 2 months ago. I haven't heard anything. Is that normal? Should I be receiving a letter or anything stating that I'm eligible for the 2010 tax year?
Please let me know your experience. Thank You.

I do not remember if we received a letter or not, I just looked it up when I got my tax bill for the new year and saw that it was there.

Different townships have different deadlines for STAR.
I know for Brookhaven, it's March 1 in order for it to appear on the tax bill for the nexy year.
For instance, we applied for STAR in Feb '07. STAR was reflected in our 2008 tax bill.
Call your town assessor's office and ask them.

i contacted the town of babylon and they said we do not apply until the new year up to March 1st to have it reflect for next year.

i have my app from nassau county and it says "Due to extremely large volume of STAR applications processed by this dept, it is recommended that the applications be filed on or before decmber 31, 2009"
