Name Change??
I need some help. When we got our marriage license I choose to change my last name right then and there, I hyphenated it. Since then I haven’t changed my name on any other forms of documentation (ex social security card, driver’s license, and payroll at work). My question is do I have to change these documents or can I just keep them this way until I'm ready to use my married name. No one seems to know the true answer. Also, since I'm legally hyphenated will it affect my payroll at work? This stuff is so confusing!
Thanks!!

Re: Name Change??
I hyphenated my last name on our marriage license but I never changed it anywhere. I've been married over 2 years now and it's never been an issue.

Re: Name Change??
I "changed" my name on my marriage license and then waited 3+ months before changing it legally (drivers license and social security). Then credit cards and other important things, and some things I am still changing now (investments, etc)
I think you can wait as long as you want, but once you change SS you should change your drivers license and other important things so they match up
