I have been taking synthroid for about 7 years with absolutely no side effects. It's just a synthetic form of the hormone your body is not creating. You should speak to your dr about the brand you take before taking anything and they should know if you want to switch.

My mom takes armour thyroid. I'm suposed to be taking it too. My mom has seen no side effects even at high doses. The only thing she had the first week or two was an increased appetite, I guess b/c it's revving up yourr metabolism.

Jennifer, if you have been diagnosed with a thyroid problem, you should follow the prescribed treatment and get at least annual blood work done by your doctor.

I get blood work done all the time. My thyroid is srt of borderlione, so I don't feel like a strictly NEED the meds, but I think they would help considering i KNOW my metabolism is slow and I do show signs of hypothyroidism. I don't know why I'm So stubborn about taking the drugs. I know they're not harmful. I guess I'm just not excited about the idea of taking a drug every day forever. i'm afraid fi I take ti and go off it I'll gain a ton of weight. I don't know. I'm just being stubborn. You are right
