Which antidepressents don't cause weight gain/hair loss.
I have mild depression that has lasted way too long. Although I didn't want to take something, I really think I need to. I am already 50lbs overweight, so I really don't want weight gain or hairloss. I do realize that everyone reacts in a different way to different medications. I have done research on my own, but just want to get more feedback before I see my doctor. Thanks.

Wellbutrin is known not to cause weight gain.

I think I heard Abilify doesn't cause weight gain too.. I don't take it but I heard that it makes you a little nauseous, so I am assuming you wouldn't want to eat with it.. not that that's a fun side effect..

Whatever you do, steer clear of Cymbalta. I gained 30lbs on it and I was dieting. It was awful!

Wellbutrin is known not to cause weight gain.
I was on the generic brand of this ( Bupropian sp?) and it worked very well ! I had no side effects from it ,and I was very happy on them

I think that is only prescribed in addition to another anti-depressant, not as the primary drug for depression.
They all have some very unpleasant side effects. About 80% of my disability clients are on antidepressants and they have so many complaints about them even if they work well for the depression, which they do in most cases.

wellbutrin xl is known to have weight loss side effects. but be careful b/c once you start on the brand, alot of people report adverse side effects if they try to switch to generic.
