so unfair! why does this keep happening. buying STINKS!
So if youve read my other thread you will know whats going on with the houses we've put offers in on.
anyway we were told we were "second" on our dream house and that if the first deal fell though our REA would recieve a call so we can resubmit our offer.... so just by chance our REA called the selling REA yesterday just to see how things were going witht he first offer and turns out... they say "oh that house is AVAILABLE!"..... ARE YOU KIDDING our REA went nuts on them saying that we should have gotten a call and what not. So we tell our REA to resubmitt our offer ASAP! it was in before noon yesterday.
fast forward to day. and our REA once again called to see the status since she no longer trusts the selling agent. and this is what she is told...
"oh, there was a higher offer, all offers that were placed originally were resubmitted, because they were ALL considered "second"" so techinaclly we were THIRD but the frigin itiots over there NEVER SAID THAT!!!!
so i totally got my hopes up just to be let down once again! ive been crying about this all morning. its just not fair. we should have been told from the get-go that we were third NOT SECOND!
our REA is VERY upset and has been trying to come to some understand as to WHY this happened. i just keep praying that maybe those people found another house in the meantime and it will once again come back.

Sorry this keeps happening to you. It seems like they are just playing games trying to get a higher price by saying there was another higher bid. I would walk away right now and just look at other houses.
So frustrating, I know

Thanks i wish i had other options. but at this point in time there is nothing out there that fits into our criteria. we want a large home for CHEAP.. who doesnt! its VERY VERY frustrating!

I know, I know. I was in your boat too. Maybe not to that extreme though. We had found a house very cheap, and huge on a huge piece of land. We put our offer in (it was a short sale) and they wouldn't give us confirmation that they accepted the offer. Then the REA came back and said to our REA that another bid had come on the house higher than ours, AND they were going to do repairs on the house before they bought it. So they wouldn't even entertain our bid. This is all after we found out that there had been no other bid or views on this house in over 6 or 7 months-we were the first. So, basically they were telling us that now all of a sudden they had a better bid, and for us to increase ours. 
We walked away. We found our house (I am very picky) about a month after that, and have been living there for 1 year. That original house-still on the market. Idiots.

ug, i am sorry that you guys are going through this...i know how you feel though  we had issues and tried to buy so many houses  we were looking mostly at short sales and forclosures and unfortunately that is why we had so many hiccups - getting outbid, multiple offers, shady listings and shady agents....you name it we went through it!
trust me, you WILL find something, don't lost hope....we were disappointed more times than i can count but in then end we got a fabulous house so i promise it will work out in the end

I think that this means the house wasnt right and that there is a better house out there for you. We had 3 houses not work out for various reasons and we finally found the right house and looking back Im glad the others didnt work out.....
Just keep looking and maybe open your criteria up a liitle.....we looked in a town we didnt think we wanted and we found it.

I sooo feel your pain!!! do you think you can put in a high offer? maybe a few thousnd more. I dont think those ppl are in contract just yet since this just happened.
If its meant to be it will happen...there is a house for you somewhere!

I totally know how you feel… we are in a very similar situation right now and this is our 7th offer… I think we’ve looked at at least 60 houses and it’s getting so frustrating!!

Hang in there, the housing market is extremely frustrating, but in the end it is sooooo worth it. If it was meant to be it will happen. There are many houses on the market now, but a lot more short sales and foreclosures are coming. As long as you are not in a terrible hurry I promise you will find something with all the new inventory that will be coming on. Plus the governement is trying to help with making short sales easier to do. Hopefully that will be in place for you by then and your transaction will go a little smoother.
Again, if this house is meant to be, it will happen. Stay committed to the end result, there is no better time to buy than right now. Incredible interest rates, great inventory, low prices, and first time home buyer credit. Don't give up!
