Heart Palpitations
At what point, if any, are they an emergency?
I was sick for a couple of days with either a stomach bug or food poisoning. Ever since then Ive been having almost constant heart palpitations....
Im keeping fairly hydrated so I dont think it's dehydration...
Im putting in a call to my doctor tomorrow but they usually take forever to get back to you and wont give me an appointment unless they consider it an emergency...
TIA

Re: Heart Palpitations
I have been getting alot lately-=can be coffee-I was told I had I had a heart murmur (don't believe it) that can be it for u also, but go to the doctor you can also have a virus that attacks your organs, why chance it.

Re: Heart Palpitations
Mine are not exactly palpitations but it is a sudden rapid heartrate. It is an emergency if I feel faint but it's different for me because I already have a pill that I carry around just in case to bring my heartrate down.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I have skipped beats and heart palpitations. I think you should see a cardiologist, just in case. I have a heart condition and it started with heart palpitations. I'm on Alpha -Beta blocker for Arrhythmia an other issues . I'm not saying there is anything wrong with your heart and I'm not trying to scare you, I just have gone through a lot and always tell people to get checked even if they think it's nothing serious, better safe than sorry.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I have been getting them quite often lately because of stress and my thyroid is all over the place.

Re: Heart Palpitations
I have them often, I believe what I have is tachycardia (fast heart rate). My cardiologist is sending me for an echocardiogram to rule anything out, and I will wear a heart monitor for a month to see if we can detect any pattern to them.
My thyroid checked out fine. I don't do caffeine at all, so that's not the cause. last episode I had ended in an ER visit. I was faint, felt sick to my stomach, got the shakes. Nothing ever came of it after I stabilized, hence the need to get an echocardiogram.
Hope it's nothing
