what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono? ETA to add pic
I went for my first sono today - I am 5w6d. All they saw was a yolk sac and they acted as if it was totally normal.. but I thought they're be looking for a heartbeat? When I asked about it they looked at me like I was nuts saying it's too early for that.
Anyways, I go back next week for a 7 week sono.. but I'm kind of nervous that they didn't see what they wanted to yet they aren't telling me?
Talk me down please lol

They wouldn't lie to you I'm shocked you even had a sono that early for that exact reason, they almost never see anything.

6 weeks is early for heartbeat, I think this is why most dr don't make first appointment this early

Re: what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono?
honestly, i am almost 7 weeks and trying to prepare myself to NOT see a heartbeat. its very common to have to go back to see it when you go so early

Re: what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono?
we went at 6 weeks and didn't see HBs. we went back at 6 weeks, 1 day and saw both HBs (later lost one baby)
small amounts of time can make a BIG difference when you're this early on

Re: what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono?
I had a sono at 6w4d because of spotting and they barely found a flicker of a HB. It took a long time to find it. When I went back at 7w1d, you could see it immediately.

Many doctors won't even see you until 8 weeks for this reason

Re: what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono?
I went in at 6 weeks, but was measuring 4 days behind. They saw a sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole or heartbeat.
5 weeks 6 days would be very early to see a heartbeat so don't stress

Re: what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono?
With my 1st pg I went to the doc at 5 1/2 weeks to confirm my pregnancy. They scheduled a sono for the following week and said that if we didn't see the HB then (6 1/2 weeks) that it was normal and I would just have to come back the following week. At 6 1/2 weeks we saw the HB.

Re: what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono? ETA to add pic
I went in a 5wk 6days and just a sac. No HB. I was a little upset about it since with my 1st I saw/heard it right away. I also looked back and I was further along, like 6 1/2wks.
Im going back tomorrow for my 8wk appt and hope to see a lot more.

I went at 6 weeks and just saw a flicker of a hb and my pic looked similar to yours (in my album)...went back at 8w1d and the hb was strong. Like Hayley said, a day can make a huge difference at this point

They would not even entertain the idea of a sono for me until I was 8 or 9 weeks...so I agree, and wouldn't worry!

Re: what are you supposed to see at a 6 week sono? ETA to add pic
At 6 weeks I had a sono and they specifically told me they are going to look for a heartbeat, but its probably to early to hear one. The first OB I was seeing had very fancy sono machine, and was able to pickup a faint heartbeat, but not able to measure.
