Please help me plan an AC trip!

I've never been to AC and FH has been dying to go. I want to surrpise him for his birthday, just packa bag, tll him we're goignt o Nj to see my aunt and meet all our frineds down there. I was thinking we'd drive down saturdya morning, stay one night, share a suite (about 5-7 people...no one's probably going to sleep much anyway), and then on saunday morning go to great adventure before driving home.

What do you think? Please give me any tips you have? What is a good hotel? If posisble, Id rather go somewhere where I can park my car in the hotel garage and then walk everywhere we need to go. thanks so much. Also, not too $$, but nice. Myabe we cna get a small suite somewhere that they won't bug us for having 7 people in it. thanks so much

Re: Please help me plan an AC trip!

There is a place called Atlantic Palace on the boardwalk, near the Taj Mahal. It is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the casino hotels.
This hotel is an all-suites hotel - studios (sleeps 2) & 2-bedrooms (sleeps 6 or 8 I think). There is a pool I think and is on the beach. All rooms have jacuzzi's. There is no casino, but there are a ton of Casino's & restaurants (Hard Rock) that are in walking distance (the entire boardwalk is full of casino's).

Re: Please help me plan an AC trip!

The Borgata (at the marina) is very popular. I am going the second weekend in July (7/9-7/10). It's like $400 per night per room.

All the casino hotels are EXPENSIVE. I went a few years ago with a group of 15 and we had no trouble staying together from the Atlantic palace to other places. Pick a casino to go to and stick to it. I usually go to the Taj when I am there - they have a night club and the casino and it's close to Atlantic palace.

Also, you have to remember, that weekend is the weeekend after the 4th of july so a lot of people may be there from the weekend before. A lot of people take off that week. You may not get a room at this point ...

I don't like the boardwalk aread actually. We always stay at Harrahs (because thats where we get free rooms) and go over to the borgata. Once in a while we will go over to the boardwalk in the summer but I don't like it. Borgata is the place to party and have fun though.

The borgata is nice but its not on the boardwalk if thats where you want to be situated. I liked the actual hotel but I would rather be on the boardwalk because its easy to access other casinos! If you stay at borgata then you need to drive to other casinos.

The Sheraton is very close to the boardwalk (5 minute walk) and a really nice hotel. One year I got great rates at Orbitz to stay there.

Also try the Sheraton right across from ceasers.. it is really nice and very easy to wealk to all the casinos...
Also and see if any of them have been there before and have casino cards.. sometimes they give you better rates.. I agree with the atlantic palace it will be alot cheaper.. most people who go to AC have there rooms comped or they are very cheap...so it is going to cost you over $400 a night for a regular room...sol not woth the money IMO

Also th Borgotoa is TOO far to wa;lk from..

Re: Please help me plan an AC trip!

AC seems to be too much $$ to be worth it. My friend said we might as well go to miami for that amount of $$ and she was totally right. So we're looking itno miami for the end of the summer. There's this turmp hotel that looks SWEET and and oceanfront suite is $600 BUT it holds 8 people...so if we got 8 people it would be manageable and it looks like paradise. Plus Doug's family vies in Ft. Lauderdale ( i think it's 45 min away), and I know he wants to see his sick grandpa So i decided whether we go with frineds or on our own, I defintie;y want to try to save the $$ to fly him to Fl to see his relatives. thaks so much for the advice

Re: Please help me plan an AC trip!

so somehow it costs just as much money to get on a plane and go to Miami than it is to drive 2-3 hours to AC? That sounds very odd and very off to me.
I thought you guys were in ultra save mode Chat Icon Chat Icon If money is soo tight and you even thought about moving your wedding, is a trip to Miami really the wisest decision right now?

Re: Please help me plan an AC trip!

I don't think you will be able to get airfare hotel spending money in Miami for the same price as A.C. We can goto a.c. And can take 100.00 bucks each to spend (usually its more but we could do it with that) . We havent gone lately though.

Re: Please help me plan an AC trip!

A trip to Miami would of course be much much more then driving to AC. Flights, rental cars, spending money, hotel.. would be much more then a tank of gas and a 150 dollar a night hotel.
