Follow up question about catholic school pay

Is there any way you can work for a nassau district and get that districts salary but work in a catholic school say as a reading specialist? someone told me their friend makes over 100 in a catholic school in nassu and I am thinking this is the only way it could be.

the only way this could be true if she is working there on behalf of the public school district and even then over 100K is doubtful. for example, say she works for ABC school district (public). St. Mary's (just an example) school is within the physical boundary of ABC School District. St. Mary's has so many kids that need reading services that would warrant ABC District keeping her there full-time to service those kids at St. Mary's. Essentially, the public school district in which a private school lies is responsible for the special ed. needs of students in the private school. HOWEVER, most often, those kids in the Catholic school only need occasional services (like a resource room or reading a few times a week) and therefore, ABC School District does not send someone there as a full-time position, OR the Catholic School has a special educator on staff. OR as is most often the case, the Catholic school has the right to say they do not have the staff to service kids with special needs (by law a Catholic school is not required to abide by IDEA because they are not funded by public dollars) and most parents use the public schools to service their children.

I really think whoever you heard from does not have the story right. there is no way the Diocese can pay anyone over 100K a year. the most senior teachers don't even make close to that.... i think the person in question may be working there part-time representing ABC school district or could be working in a public school district full-time and then either working at the Catholic school part-time or on a consultant basis and gets paid by the Diocese on top of a public school salary. I suppose it is possible, but she would have to be in a very large Catholic school with enough kids with special needs to warrant her there full-time and the public district agree to pay for it.

I work in a private school in suffolk. If a child qualifies for services we can't provide like OT , someone comes in that is paid for by the public school district we are in.

A friend of mine who is employed by Nassau BOCES works in a Yeshiva, but still is paid by/works for BOCES. He makes well over 100,000. (Boces has NO salary caps!)

A friend of mine works for a Suffolk school district but is sent to a Catholic high school in the physical bounds of the school district to do resource room services. She is paid as a public school teacher although she spends the majority of the day in the Catholic school because she is employed by the public school district.
