Girs who were on progesterone
Was anyone else nervous when it was time to stop? I took my last one this morning (at 12w4d) and even though my doctor told me that "it's like spitting in the ocean" (yes, that's a direct quote ) because the placenta is making so much progesterone at this point, I am still nervous. Am I alone in this irrational fear?

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I think I took it for a week longer than my dr told me to bc I was scared to stop it. I think it's probably a normal feeling! One thing to look forward to----not being messy/ gross anymore.

I stopped it at 10 weeks, was totally nervous. But my DS is 4 weeks old, so it all worked out!

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
At that point, I was so ready to be done with that nasty smelly stuff that I was glad to finish. But I can understand your fear. Your doctor's comment is hilarious though

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I was terrified.... I even went in for a sono like a week after I stopped just to make sure the baby was still growing!! They were really understanding though since I had previously had a miscarriage. I think its totally normal to be nervous!

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
Thanks ladies I am definitely ready to be done with the leaky nastiness, but I also had a previous mc so that is where my anxiety is coming from. I wish my doctor would let me have another sono, but I don't think he's going to go for it (I have already had 3). I am just going to have to have faith that my body is doing what it's supposed to be doing!

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
OMG!!!! 12 weeks!!!!
I'm doing the injections & I really don't think my butt can take that!
For whatever reason, I thought I could stop at 8 weeks.
Gotta chat about this with my RE.

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I am still doing the injections - I am 7 weeks, and they told me 4 more weeks. As much as I want to stop I know that I will be so scared to stop. I freak out if we are a half hour late doing the shot. I am sure it will be fine though!

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I am also still doing the injections, and the doc said to stop it Jan.6th! Then, I said that I read that most girls continue with it until their 12 weeks is up, he said I would be fine, but if I have any left, I can continue to do them until it's all gone! That made me feel better. My butt does need a break, but I don't care. I will probably be finished with it by next weekend :)

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I was totally nervous! But they're right your body is producing. Will you be going for a test to check the levels? I did and that made me feel better.

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
No, I won't be going for a test, although now I kind of want to call and schedule one just to make sure. My next appt isn't until Feb.1st. I am having my ultrascreen done the 3rd week of January!

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I am not scheduled for another test either, but honestly my blood numbers were never good even on the suppositories (the highest was 6.5), so I don't think it will make much of a difference.

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I'm 6 weeks exactly so I have another 6 weeks to go and I am petrified to come off. I feel like my body is so crazy what if it doesn't do the right thing. I understand your fears.

Re: Girs who were on progesterone
I was scared to stop the progesterone supp. I actually stayed on them a week later than the doctor told me to becuase I was so nervous. It all worked out fine and there were no problems-I'm 30 weeks preggo now and have a healthy baby boy inside me! Just be prepared that the progesterone still continues to come out of you even after you finish the supposotories. I think it was almost a week later that all was clear...so to speak! Good luck and I am sure all will be fine!!!

When I got pregnant with DD after my 2nd IVF last year, I was completely off my PIO shots by 7 1/2 weeks. Reason being is that progesterone is important in early pregnancy to help sustain the pregnancy until the placenta starts to take over somewhere around 8 weeks. Progesterone levels also tend to be higher in the PIO form than on suppositories. I remember after my IVF cycle, my progesterone was consistently over 80 when anything over I believe 10 is acceptable levels.
Once the placenta takes over, progesterone isn't AS important anymore.
