If you have a big house.....
And do not plan on having any children, what kind of reactions do
you get? I was at a party at CF home yesterday and the house is huge.
My friend built it with her DH. They do not intend on having children.
Everyone kept saying to her things like "such a big house going to waste"
I felt bad and uncomfortable for her. I am not sure if she is childless by choice or not.

People are rude. Maybe they plan on having a lot of pets or house guests? I'll never understand why people are so obsessed with other people's reproduction choices

Currently we are CF and have quite a big house. Our new neighbors all asked if we had kids since it was such a big house and when we said no, they looked perplexed. Eventually, we do plan on having children, but we also have IF issues so who knows what the future holds.
People need to keep their thoughts to themselves as they may not be aware of the other people's situation

"going to waste"??? What it's only good if you fill it with a bunch of kids???  Give me a break...i live in a tiny house now...but my dream house will have things like a workout room & an art studio...DH would love a library..and something like a media room...people can say such dumb things.

We have four bedrooms and none of them are going to waste. One is a really nice home gym. One is a beautiful office. One is a guest bedroom with its own half bath, and one is our master bedroom.
So none of our house is "wasted" at all -- but people making comments like that are sure wasting a lot of oxygen. How obnoxious can one be?

thats for sure!!! 
we have a 3 bedroom house on our level and my parents have 2 bedrooms and we plan on expanding our area upstairs in the future. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a den!

ITA ! We love having parties !
We have 4 bedrooms and they're all very useful to us.....i told DH if we had kids we'd need an even bigger house because I don't want to give up our den, gym or guest bedroom lol

Exactly! My sister has a HUGE house all to herself and she uses every inch. A workout room, an always ready guestroom, a craft/office etc. I would love to see what she would do if someone told her that her home is "going to waste".

Its so funny that this topic is on here. DH and I do plan on having children someday, just not quite yet...
Our neighbor (we've lived here since July) asked him the other day if we are trying to get pregnant soon!!!!!!! I mean hello personal! I've never spoken to him ever...
DH told me not to even shake his hand, they have 4 kids!

ugh! so annoying! we don't have kids yet, but we have a pretty big house- 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a huge kitchen....
we plan on having 1 kid, but we use all of the rooms! both of our parents live OOT and have to stay over night when they visit, so we wanted to have 2 rooms to use as guest rooms in case they ever come at the same time, then one bedroom is ours and the other bedroom will be for the future kid.
i don't know why its anybody's business! we can afford it... and we don't heat any of the bedrooms but ours, unless somebody is staying over- so its not like we're "Wasting" energy heating a big house.

crashing- but that's an awful thing to say!!! I wish people would keep their opinions to themselves, what does that even mean "going to waste". If there's not kids in the house the space can't be used for other things?!?! And like you said, they might not be having children because they CAN'T...but even if they don't want any...ugh, people should learn when to shut their mouths.

what a thing to say! people are just plain stupid and don't think! I especially like the "going to waste" part!!! How is it a waste if they are happy!?!?! Plus that space can be used for many other things besides kids!!!!! I usually get the opposite reaction from people. My house is on small side and I constantly hear the "don't you ever want kids, where do the kids go" type questions. People need to really learn to keep their mouths shut especially when they don't know others situations.

We have been looking for kids and the RE Agent made a comment about there being 3 bedrooms great for kids...etc. Well Dh walked into one and said, "this would make a great office", then I walked into the one with more windows, I said "craft room!".
I don't think I would "waste space"!
