lets talk pre-natals
did you buy them OTC or did you get a Rx from your GYNO?
does it matter?

Re: lets talk pre-natals
My RE gave me a free sample and a script for Citra Natal Assure.
Today is the first day that I'm taking them and I feel so nauseous!

Re: lets talk pre-natals
I got them at GNC and my gyno had told me that as long as they had 1000 mg of folic acid it didnt matter- I also take an extra supplement of dha

Re: lets talk pre-natals
hmmm okay...i have to go for my annual soon & i since dh and i are taking the "whatever happens, happens" attitude for now, i thought i would hold off on them until i saw my gyno & talk to him about it then
i think it would be pretty annoying to have to keep getting an Rx for them...thats why i asked if it mattered

My GYN told me that a daily multi-vit is sufficient when TTC, so you would be good with just buying that OTC.

Re: lets talk pre-natals
Rx from RE. I take Citranatal Assure with DHA. You can take OTC prenatals but make sure they have a DHA supplement because that is VERY important for the brain development of the fetus when you're pregnant. Target sells a bottle of DHA pills for cheap and you can take one of those along with whatever prenatal you're taking.

Take them with food, that helps. I never take them on an empty stomach and I have not had any problems with the Citranatal.

Thanks! I took them about an hour after I ate, so next time I'll take them with food.

i use the CVS brand of the once a day prenatals, it has 2 bottles: one is the vitamin and one is a DHA supplement. It's great! I would start taking them now, because even if you're not pregnant, they are so good for you. they make your skin, hair and nails so nice :O)

Re: lets talk pre-natals
I get mine via Rx cause for me its cheaper that way. Also my dr writes it as a 90 day supply with 3 refills so i get 9 months for 1 script (plus you only pay 1 co-pay for the 90 day supply)
But like PP said - as long as you get the 1000mg of folic and the DHA

Re: lets talk pre-natals
Rx ones tend to be more expensive then Over the counter ones. I'm taking the one a day prenatals since we are TTC. I think once there's a bun in the oven, I will switch over to the Rx ones.

Re: lets talk pre-natals
I use the Target brand. I don't really think it matters if you use OTC or a Rx. My last pregnancy I did get a prescription but that is because I was anemic and needed one with extra iron, and I didn't know if I could get one OTC.
