There's a building near the 347/454 by the carvel that you can rent.

the one in the middle of the interseciton is a vfw/knights of columbus type of building

That one in the middle of 347/454 is a Knights of Columbus I believe. There's also the Elks Lodge on Edgewood in Smithtown. I booked my son's communion there. The rent the room or you can have them cater your event and it's very reasonable.
