Kiera's story
I went in to be induced on 1-18-10 at 9 pm. Expected the cerivdil to be put in pretty soon...but once I got on the monitor, Kieras heartbeat was erratic..going from 160's to 120's. Doctors wanted to determine what her baseline was before putting it in. Finally at 1:00 am they put the cervidil in. By 2:30, I was having major contractions and Kieras heartbeat dropped to the 60's..they were concerned..but thought maybe she was on the cord. I rolled over and tried to get the heartbeart up. It came up and 5 minutes later it dropped again. This time they decided that the cervidil had to come out. I was already having alot of painful contractions so they wanted to see what happened in the morning. All night I suffered through really strong contractions. At 6am..I was 3 cm. They were happy that labor had started and the plan was to go on...I labored until 11:15 am...and had only gotten to a little over 4 cm when the heartbeart dropped again. This time my OB said we could not go on like this and he wanted to do a C section before it became an emergency. Thought the cord may be around her neck. I was wheeled into the OR at about 12:00 and at 12:20 pm my princess was born- 6 lbs 4 oz- much smaller than predicted and 20 inches long. She is so perfect and beautiful with such little features..im so in love!
I was TERRIFIED of having a c-section but in the end it had to be done. The cord was wrapped around her body several times so each time I contracted it was cutting off her blood supply. I was so scared something would happen to her if we went on..Also, the pain of the contractions was sooo bad, from using the cervidil, I dont think I could have made it to 10 cm anyway! The
C section was not bad at all. Im sore, but its not terrible. All the pain in the world would be worth it for my little girl...
