Mirrors

DO you work out in front of a mirror?
I just read an article in a magazine that said women who work out in front of mirrors don't work out as hard because they are looking at their imperfections. For me, I think they are good to make sure you are keeping good form. WHat do you think?

Re: Mirrors

I like working out in front of a mirror. It helps me keep my posture correct and I think looking at my imperfections make me work out harder!

Re: Mirrors

I guess it depends on whether or not you like what you see. I knew a girl who's trainer told her you should lift in front of a mirror because you could see the muscle working and that was motivational - I've tried it and it is. When you put a weight in your hand, your bicep tends to bulge a bit and I always think Imagine if it looked like that at rest? and it pushes me to work a little harder.

Re: Mirrors

The only exercise I do in front of a mirror is during a dance or aerobics/weights class. And even then, I only look at the mirror during weights to make sure I'm using good form.

I use them because they are there, but in all honesty, I look more at my arms and the weights on the machine. DH told me not to clink the weights, so I watch those instead and go slowly.

Re: Mirrors

Generally, I don't, but when I went to Curves, I used to laugh to myself all the time watching other people watch themselves in the mirrors. This one woman was totally in love with herself Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
