Re: kid birthday parties

We dont really get invited, unless its for a close friend or DH's work partner. Since we live out of state from our family, we obviously dont go to the parties, which of course I would go to. I dont like going to these other parties for friends, but on occassion, I will suck it up and go. As the PP said, I dont have much in common with these other parents, who are chasing their toddlers around, while DH and I sit there. And if we do go, it's for a short while.

They do....

I do.....

Unless they are at home in an intimate environment, I do not enjoy them one bit.

Re: kid birthday parties

We go for family. I am TTC right now , but had to take a break due to health reasons, and will be TTC in a few months, However, I am kind of annoyed that this not having a child thing feels like when they do have a kid it is some sort of "cult" and you are only invited to a 1st bady party in a non child place only if you have kids. That said, I would want the option to choose if I want to go. Okay vent over, this just happened to us in the past few days. Can u tell I am annoyed and it was done behind our backs....Chat Icon
ETA not that I wanted to go, but it was the sneakiness of it. I do not care for the wife of the child.

Re: kid birthday parties

We have been invited to a few. For our best friends' son, it has really been family parties, and we know both of their families really well, so we go and have a great time. One of our not-as-close friends invited us to his DD's 1st and 2nd bday parties. By last year, DH and I felt uncomfortable, as we don't really have any mutual friends, and most people our age had kids or were PG. This year, if we are invited, I don't think we will go, as I'm struggling TTC, and unless I'm PG by then, I don't think I can handle it.

We have our friends' DD's first bday party next Saturday. I don't mind that one. It really depends on the friend and who the rest of the crowd is.
