Lay it on me How Much Does Day care COST ???

i am a SAHM and have no idea ......what age do they take kids from and how many hours is in a day?? do they do half a week or is it 5 days ..

Most centers take 6 weeks on up.

Infants (under one year) usually are FT only as a crib is dedicated to their exclusive use.

The larger chains tend to be more expensive than in home care. Larger chains often have a more developed curriculum, enrichment programs and play area... some centers provide food, some do not. Children under one year, you are expected to provide all food.

Some run on a school calendar, some nearly everyday of the year... that should be considered when looking at price.

Most places... 10% discount for the second child... usually the oldest (lower tuition).

My DC's currently attend an independent center (2 year old room). It's 8-4, closed all Federal holidays and I pay $1020 per month, per child. Early drop off, later pick up is extra.

Not sure what the current rates are at the larger chains. When I was looking it was going to run is about $1350 per infant... or over $2500 per month.

DD has been going to daycare since she was 7 months old. She is usually there 7-9 hours a day 5 days a week.

Next September after I have DS it will cost me around $2300 a month for the both of them.

my daycare starts as early as 6 weeks and they are open from 7am to 6pm. i know some dc charge more for early drop-off,

i worked out a deal with the daycare i go to and ds goes only 1 day a week. (the minimum is usually 2 days a week) and i pay 300 a month - 75 a day

I use kindercare (in PA as thats where i live, but i believe the hours for the chains are the same/similar)

DS is 4 months..I pay 198 for 3days a week. 5 full days is 270 per week. We drop him off by 6:30 am and pick up by 5:45 (i know...long day but i commute to NY and DH to philadelphia).

Infants are the most $$. They do 1 day or all 5, and half days as well. they are very flexible.
I think they provided good start formula but we're on alimentum so i have to provide all the bottles for the day.
they provide wipes, we supply diapers.

DD is 9 months and goes full time. It runs me $1200/month

the center we use in nassau is $275 a week f/t 630-630 hours. $1 a minute past 630, starts at 6 weeks.. the infant room is upto around 15/18 months i think, then there are 3 other age rooms.... $265 a week when they turn 18 months i think. when you have 2 you get 10% off the second child. provide food and milk when they are upto that level.

i would also like to point out that special needs schools also offer day care programs, and if the child is older they discount them if you want them to be integrated with the special needs children.

little village runs Toddler Time, but if you put them in inclusion classes the tuition is much cheaper.

ACDS has full time day care from 6 weeks on, and as the child grows you can get a reduced rate if you start them in inclusion classes.

most run on a school calendar though, but special needs schools usually run on a 12 month calendar

We pay $333 a week for full time. There is no charge for early/late drop off/pick up. The center is open from 7:00-6:00.

2 years ago. It was about $300 per week for an infant at Tutor Time by me for 5 days.

DS's daycare takes him 2 days a week, $56 dollars a day. He started at 3 months.

We pay $275/week for 3 days a week. Same price no matter what times, they are open 6:30am to 6:30pm. It's a major center.

I pay $1100 a month for 5 days a week. They're open from 7 am until 6:30 pm. Nothing extra for food or the hours you send them.

We are with a private sitter (in her home) and pay $60 per day - it works out to $1200 per month. I drop him off at 7:30 and pick him up at 3:00

I'm in NJ at a Bright Horizons.

It's $1,430.00 a month for the toddler room full-time.

I am in NJ also. I pay $797/month and DD is there from 8:15-5:15 most days. No extra charge if I'm late picking her up (they are open until 6:30 pm).

If you've just read all of those prices above & are hyperventilating - get the hourly breakdown. Most daycares work out to about $5-6 an hour - and you will get a child care tax credit if you qualify.

If you have an FSA program with dependent care & max that out - it would reduce your taxable income.

I pay $540/week for 6:30 am - 6:30 pm for my infant and toddler

We'll be paying $580 every two wks for an infant and toddler to attend 5 days/wk. Works out to be about $2500/mo. and the boys will be there from 8-6.

We pay $25 for every 15 min we're late to pick them up -- I'm hoping this never happens....

My son is 4 and we pay $1140 per month. When he was an infant is was about the same rate, maybe a bit more. Some places do 1/2 day programs but that is typically considered "nursery" school and not daycare. Many of those programs are closed when public school is closed and over the summer.

It depends on the facility. Each one is different. Even 2 TT's have different prices. We just switched DS's daycare and we are now paying $1100 per month.

I've gotten quotes from $275 to $350 per week.
