I would get a second opinion from someone who is not affiliated with your ped. I would want to know what effects the additional dose could do to the older child and what an early does could do to the baby. Depending upon what is said I would consider going to an attorney to see if your kids will need help for something in the future. I am just so sorry. I would need to find a new ped. for my kids. I could never trust them again. I understand that mistakes happen, but there should have been protocols in place to prevent a mix up like this.
I also want to thank you for sharing this, because I will never take both kids at the same time to the ped for shots. Before your post I would have thought nothing of it. I am just so sorry you are going through this.
ITA with this. I wouldn't take his word for it. I would make to make sure by myself for sure!!

My children had reactions to EVERY shot. Maybe the correct shots were given? If they were labeled, I would tend to think that maybe the ped. did not make a mistake at all, especially when many children have reactions like that to most shots.

I would call the manufacturer about the infants Hep A and see what they recommend. I might also call Poison control. Good luck. I, personally, would leave the practice

I am so sorry-- what senseless thing to have to worry about.
I would absolutely switch practices and also report them to appropriate authority.
Mistakes like that should not happen. Especially when it's so careless.

I am sorry this happened to your kids. I would have to switch as I would have no faith in them after this. I hope you get some answers soon

I do think that it is a bad mistake, but they do happen....if this was the first issue that I had with the practice, I'd probably not leave tbh.
Maybe I would try to make appointments for one child at a time to try to minimize the risk of something happening again. But, I will say that the doctor's office will most likely be SUPER cautious with you from now on, so they hopefully will be on the ball
I agree.. I only bring my kids at different times- I just can't handle them both getting "stuff" done at the same time 'cause I feel like I"m not paying proper attention..

update: i spoke to my ped today, after he spoke ot an infectious disease guy. said ID doc felt its not an issue, all the vaccines are dead, and i should revacccinate both kids properly. what a nightmare. ped could not stop apolgizing, saying he made a mistake, never happen again, so on now i need to decide whether i should leave the practice totally, stay with the practice but start seeing a different ped for well visits, or stick wiht original ped.
If you decide to stay I would require that all shots be drawn one at a time, while in the room with you - not have them drawn in another room and then the ready syringe brought into the room.

We chose a Dr that uses single dose vaccines...I honestly think I would leave and I think if it were them, they would too!

So sorry this happened!
PERSONALLY, I'd prob SUE!
I'm sorry, I am VERY sorry for what happened to the OP's children, but this is NOT lawsuit worthy.
There has to be a significant DAMAGE, not just the mistake itself to get a return on a medical malpractice case.
Even if the OP's DC has a reaction, there still is not a suit there unless there was an actual lasting effect from it.
I am not a med mal lawyer, but I worked for one for a long time.
Sorry OP for the hijack

I was going to say the same thing. You will not find a lawyer to take your case if no damage was suffered b/c of this mistake. I know from experience with my own health.

I am sorry you and your kids had to deal with this mixup. I also work in the medical field and understand accidents happen but I make sure my Ped or my Dr draws up meds infront of me. I always want to see the vial the meds are coming from. I would be looking for new doctors. I wish you all the best and hope the kids are ok......
