Need a new tv - help!
I killed 2 tv's in the past 2 days . I thought it was b/c our tv was old but apparently, we had 2 power surges and our power strip must have been bad.
Anyway - we need a new tv - asap! Not even sure what to get. We want something between a 46 and 50 inch for our family room. What's good - lcd, plasma? How many pixels do we need??? we don't want to spend a ton but we'd like a nice tv.

What is your budget? How big is the room? Is there a lot of natural light (windows) coming in that would reflect shadow or too much light towards the tv?

Whatever you get...protect it from future surge's with one of these...
I dont believe that the $15 surge protectors actually work. They are more just power strips. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rocketfish%26%23153%3B+-+Battery+Backup+and+Power+Management+System/9486683.p?id=1218112984166&skuId=9486683&st=ups

We are very happy with our Sont Bravia. We also spent the extra money and got a special surge protector. I think its worth it.

Re: Need a new tv - help!
Samsung LCD's are the best IMO. We have a 46" and a 52"
A friend of mine works for Best Buy Magnolia and always recommends Samsung to his customers.

So you don't want Plasma. You want a LCD.
Either Samsung or Sharp 52" should be about 1200 bucks these days. If you go with a 46", you will be within your budget.

My brother used to work at Best Buy and says the same, that Samsung is highly recommended. I just bought one last week and I love it!

Re: Need a new tv - help!
We LOVE our Sharp Aquos 46" LED with motion-flow.
I don't recommend Plasma because that is a dead technology. Also, if you're into sports I don't recommend an LCD either. I have found that there is too much "drag" when the puck or the ball moves fast. There's like a trail behind it. I can't speak for all LCDs but the ones my friends/family have aren't that good for sport.
I 100% recommend the LEDs. The lighting is different and have great motion-flow for sports.
Good luck!
