Update on me...
I have not updated since I found out I had the MTHFR Gene so I thought I'd let you all know how I've been doing. After finding out about the gene I was told by my gyn to start taking a baby aspirin every day. For some reason I wasn't convinced this was enough and after doing some research and talking with some of you on here I realized I needed to do more. I work in a doctors office so I asked one of them to do some research for me and tell me what he thought. He did, and told me I should see a hematologist. So, off I went and I found out that the gene is only effective if my homosystein(?) levels are elevated..nice of the gyn to tell me this. After having blood work my homosystein level came back NORMAL. They tell me I am perfectly healthy yet I still have to take 10 different vitamins a day plus the baby aspirin. Basically the hematologist and my RE think it was just bad luck. I started going to the RE again and I'm just waiting for my surge so that I can have another IUI this month. Long story short... the gyn made be believe this gene was the causing factor for my m/c when it has nothing to do with it. If I can offer any advice it would be...Do some research on your own, doctors know alot but they don't know EVERYTHING. If something doesn't seem right to you or you feel like something more should be done--go with your instincts and get a second opinion. I sure am glad I did.

Re: Update on me...
I just went through something similar. I had low protein s activity levels and the MTHFR gene mutation. When the Dr. called and told me I was kind of like...OK what now? So I stopped clomid and HCG shots til I could get this straightened out. I went to a perinatologist first (at the recommendation og my OB) who said that I would need a baby aspirin and also about 10 vitamins aside from the pre-natals!!! But he also wanted me to go to a hematologist, I finally went to the hematologist this week who explained it in detail, and my homocystine level is normal too! So basically he said it is nothing to worry about and just take the aspirin and vitamins!! Sorry to hijack here but your story sounded so familiar!! Now back to business!! Best of luck to you!!
