Cenus Question-Do I put Katie on it?

We have an 18 year old that lives with us. Our address is on her learners permit, and all of her mail comes to our house.

She is not blood related to us, and she is in college. Do I put her on my cenus form?

TIA

Yes. She is a depandant in your household.

I assume she lives with you. If she is living in your home the answer is yes.

I thought the census said not to include full-time college students living away from home?

I thought so too, but question 7 specifically asks if the person lives away from home for periods of time during the year and "in college housing" is one of the choices....

And she isn't a dependent, really, we don't claim her on our taxes...

I thought that meant if your child doesn't live in your house full time b/c they are living at school, you do not include them.

Here, the college student LIVES in this house while attending college, so she should be included as I read it.

That's the way I read it too. Also, it doesn't matter that she's not a relative. There was a box for "roommate" and "other nonrelative."

Yes, if she lives with you (i.e. not in the dorms somewhere), then she goes on your census form.

On the form I got, it had a little check-box on the bottom of each person's section asking if they live anywhere else for at least part of the year - then you had to specify if it was a college, millitary post, seasonal home or prison.

Yes, put her on your form. She lives with you, plain and simple Chat Icon Chat Icon On it, it asks your relationship to this person...

Thats how I read the question. She lives in the house while attending college.

If she lives with you while attending college, you include her.

Oh then I agree.

I was under the impression that Katie went to school out of state from a passport post.

I thought she was saying the person in question doesn't live there now because she's in college. If she does live there then yes, I agree she should be listed.

She should be included. It is if they live away at the school (as on campus) they don't get included. But since her permit has your address and she lives w/ you then I would include her.

Re: Cenus Question-Do I put Katie on it?

She should NOT be included if she is away at a college she will be counted there. If she lives at home she should be counted on your form.

She lives in the house while attending college. So, she lives in the house MOST of the time. She should be included on their census form. She won't be counted somewhere just b/c she is a college student. It's based on where she LIVES most of the time.

If she lives in a dorm, that's different -- but she lives in their house. So she should be counted. She should NOT, however, be counted by her parents (or wherever she stays when not at college, etc.).
