custody fight and marriage

anyone have a spouse go through a custody fight, have the whole process really hit your marital relationship hard, and still have marriage survive it in the end?

we're going through it now. it was rough in the very beginning but it is much better then where we were...however, $$$ is so much tighter b/c of legal fees and that is a stressor too...

at our worst, we had to sit down and really take a look at what was causing the fights and how to avoid/end them b/c it was not fair to us or our child together to end up in divorce b/c of a previous divorce & custody issue, kwim?

imo, you have to stay united for the common goal - the welfare of the chidl(cihldren) that you are seeking custody of...if a change needs to be made, they must have gone through a lot and deserve to have stability. the road will be bumpy, but it will be a testament to your relationship in the end :) hth

Yes, we went through it. It began right before we were married & ended just after. We have survived that & more. We took most of our wedding money & gave it to his lawyer, but, in the end, the children's welfare was worth every bit and then some. That was in 2003 and today, we are all much better for the change of custody to my DH. Good luck - it will get better!
