something scary...
DH & I were driving to my aunt's house for Easter when all of a sudden my heart started to race and I felt panicky... We were out all day yesterday in the sun and had quite a few beers.... So I was pretty tired and spent this morning... Also- I tend to get anxiety and feel *guilt* the day after drinking... (typical mom thing)
So all of a sudden I got dizzy, felt panicky and my hands and arms started to tingle... Right before we got to my aunts i started losing all feeling in my hands and they started to harden and curl up (like someone with CP...)
I was TERRIFIED... and felt like I was going to faint... DH dropped me off and I ran inside... I grabbed my mom & other aunt and pulled them into the living room (I didn't want to call attention to myself...) Luckily I started to get feeling back and they calmed me down.
Never had a random panic attack with no triggers like that before... never had one with such physiological effects like that either...
I felt MUCH better after eating....

Re: something scary...
I've had free floating anxiety attacks like that before and it's SO scary. I'm glad you felt better after eating. I haven't had that happen in a looooong time, but I remember once actually feeling as if the walls in the room were literally closing in on me and I was seeing stars and losing my hearing. So scary

Re: something scary...
yes! i've had that same thing!
well, i suffered from panic disorder for years, but now it's gone.
anyway, when your hands and fingers curl, it's due to lack of oxygen.
you must have been hyperventiliating, and your body kind of goes into a survival mode, and takes all oxygen from limbs and races it to your head, to prevent you from passing out.
i've had the finger curl so bad, that one time i was driving, and i had to pull over. and the worst thing was, i couldn't even DIAL my mom's number on my cell. It was so scary!
next time, to prevent it, breathe into a paper bag and slowly as you can.
i am so sorry you had such a horrible and scary experience today..most people don't understand how awful it is.

Re: something scary...
Are you under a lot of stress? When I was in school for my masters I almost fainted a few times and I had the same symptoms you're describing except for I felt my legs starting to give out. I realized every time it happened I hadn't eaten yet so now I make sure to carry snacks in my purse. It's a super scary feeling but at least you weren't alone

Ugh C, how HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad you recovered but that must've been AWFUL. Hopefully it NEVER happens again but maybe that's a sign that you can't go running around on an empty stomach; try to get SOMETHING down even if you feel like crap, it may prevent that in the future!!

it all caught up to me, I guess.
and tons of beer the day before didn't help.

see that's the thing... i DID eat... granted, just 2 hard boiled eggs (it's easter darnit!)
but I know my body and I get fainty and dizzy if I don't eat....
I feel better but still anxious. I just have a lot to do in the next few days and you know my head has been 'elsewhere...'

I think that might be where this is stemming from! You have a lot going on right now....and you're taking on a lot of the burden of trying to make it easier on others, which is fabulous of you to do.....but it's taking a toll on your body.
I have no advice.....just
