I chose other bc I wouldn't get a full out "spanking" but I would get smacked (wooden spoons, hands, whatever)
ETA: My mother would scream like no other at us, over the smallest things as well. It wasn't fun growing up all the time

No, not a real spanking. Just a slap on the bottom if I did something dangerous like run out into a parking lot instead of taking my dad's hand.

I was - not alot but I can recall a handful of times I got the wooden spoon, the slipper or the belt to my behind. They were never done hard, just a quick smack.
All times were deserved thats for sure.
As we got older we all just got "the look" from our parents & we knew we should stop whatever it was we weren't suppose to be doing or it would come down to the the above.
We all turned out fine & had a great deal of respect towards my mother & adult authority growing up.

We were spanked in my household, but only as a last resort/for major offenses. I can honestly say I deserved every spanking I received. I have a great deal of respect for my parents, as do my siblings. Having said that, I remember thinking it was then end of the world when I knew I would be getting one!:

I was smacked in the face twice but I deserved it both times because I gave my mom the finger in both occurances.
Other than that...we were not spanked. All my parents had to do was give us a look and we knew we were in trouble. I truly hope I will have "the look" with my kids.

Wow, I was never brave enough to go there. (I think I would be missing a finger if I did )
The look is sometimes all it takes. Still trying to master that with my own!

I remember when I was really little & did something wrong, my mom would slap my hand (not hard) and I would burst in tears because I knew I was in trouble.
I don't really remember being hit. I remember my mom chasing my brother with the wooden spoon  but I don't think she ever actually hit him with it.
However I was TERRIFIED of her even though she didn't hit me. She was so mean & scary, she would scream at me all the time & all the way up through high school I always felt anxious/ on-edge around her. I never really remember my dad disciplining me at all, I guess that was my mom's job lol, he was the "fun" parent!

I wasn't, but I was the kind of kid who was always too afraid to do anything that would get me into trouble... mostly for fear of getting into trouble.
My sisters were the ones who got the harsher punishments, one of which was liquid Dial soap in the mouth.... but I'm pretty sure that was the most extreme.
I'm not opossed to spanking.
