New here!
Hi, I just got my BFP on Tuesday night :D
I called the OB/GYN today and I have a couple of questions. I will be a new patient because I just changed insurance, so I had to change drs.
They made my first appointment for a month from now! I was surprised. Is that normal?
We haven't told anyone yet. We thought I'd go in to the dr soon and then we would make phone calls. DH wants to wait to tell anyone, including our parents. I can't wait another month (and my mom would kill me if I waited that long!). As background, we live 3000 miles away from our families, so we obviously don't see them that often. There has been some tension in both of our relationships with our parents after our wedding (which was only 3 months ago....), but we still do talk, etc.
Any advice? I know my girlfriends will figure it out as soon as I turn down a glass of wine :) We're pretty keyed in on babies as 2 of my friends have babies and 2 are pregnant.
Please help! Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Re: New here!
First Welcome!!
Second - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Yes - it is pretty normal to wait to see the doctor - alot of doctors don't want to see you until you are 8-9 weeks along.
We decided to tell our parents. But we did not tell any of the rest of our family and friends until I was about 10-12 weeks along. (I had some complications in the beginning so it was easier not to say anything.

Re: New here!
Congratulations!!
Unless you have had previous issues with past pregnancies or are seeing a specialist, its quite normal not to have your 1st appointment right away .. most ladies don't see their doctor until 8wks or later because there just isn't 'much to see' before then!
As for telling people, I'm not the person to ask - outside of our parents who we told right away and a very few friends, we only recently began spilling the news (and I'm close to 15 weeks) You'll know when the right time is for you!
Good Luck & Welcome!
