Can you recommend a small town on LI to live?
Hi, can anyone recommend a nice affordable area on Long Island that has good SD and has a nice small town feel to it? Would like to stay in Nassua but we are open to the begining of Suffolk.
Looking for a charming town with a nice small town feel to it.
TIA

"Affordable" varies by definition. Did you have a house budget in mind? Also, what size home / property would you be looking for?

by affordable I mean nothing in Cold Spring Harbor, Plandom or the Hamptons
Looking for something with at least 2 baths and at least 3 bedrooms and on a nice piece of land.

Hampton Bays is an affordable area of the Hamptons...we're not all rich out here It's lots of working class families...

Bayville! I grew up there and would love to move back some day… it’s just a little out of the way now. Oyster Bay or Locust Valley are nice towns too.

Kings Park, besides it being affordable, its location to the parkway is great! plus, there's lots of beaches!

Blue point
Blue Point is not a towny town, not like Sayville. There is no real town, or "main St" feel there. I grew up in Bayport and that is the same too. Great school, just not a town vibe in either.

Carle Place!!!! I was born and raised in CP and have never left. DH and I bought a home there after we were married and can't wait to raise a family there!! It is only 1 square mile in size and a very tight-knit community.

I live in Sayville and love it. I could (and have many times) waxed poetic on all it's attributes. But - it may be a little far if you are looking for for Nassau.
Northport is super cute.

Lynnbrook, Rockville Center, Stewart Manor (though the schools vary), Williston Park, Albertson, Roslyn Heights, Port Washington (some parts are affordable, though you would trade on land, not much property generally), Bethpage (less of a town feel though).

Babylon Village. It's a great small town, good school district, nice parks, village with shopping and restaurants, lots of community activities. The LIRR has express trains and good parking for village residents.

Try Harborfields SD, which includes parts of Huntington, all of Centerport, north Greenlawn and even a few blocks in Northport or Northport/East Northport SD. Also, Fort Solonga or Kings Park.

Re: Can you recommend a small town on LI to live?
East Rockaway or Lynbrook in ER School District.
Small town it is -- the town is 1 Square Mile. Two Elementary Schools One Jr./Sr. High.
It is a little bigger then when I graduated but my graduating class was 86 kids and that was considered large.
ETA: You also get the great personalization in the schools, and the great town areas from Lynbrook and RVC (but right there).
