My General Pratitioner is a QUACK!
I have had it with my Family Practitioner. (Can I give his name?) He can't seem to decide if he is a medical Dr., homeopathic specialist, yoga instructor, master teacher (of HS English) or vitamin guru. One thing for sure, he's an ego maniac who spends more time talking about himself and directing patients on where their lives should be going rather than digging deep to help a patient understand what the hell is going on. End of Rant.
I am looking for a female Dr. in the Mt. Sinai/Port Jeff area, preferably someone over 45. I am a 42 year old female who wants someone who can relate rather than dictate.
I went in yesterday with symptoms of spring allergies/bronchitis, dizziness, fatigue beyond belief, and a low grade fever. And since I am 42 and don't frequent the doctor's office, I threw in that the dizziness has been hanging around for at least a month, and I get tingley numbness in my right hand often.
He kept telling me the symptoms are unrelated to each other. In other words--I'm a whiner.
I left with a script for flonaze and told to buy OTC claritan. Oh, and I should take a mulit vitamin for women. Not to mention I was given suggestions on how to handle my students. What? $20 copay and 45 min. in the waiting room for that? I'd be better off tossing a nickel into Lucy VanPelts tin can.

Re: My General Pratitioner is a QUACK!
can't help with the doc. i've got plenty of similar symptoms and have been trying for a long time to find out why. unfortunately, he could be right about it being unrelated.
i went to my primary a while ago complaining my right hand was tingling and so was my right foot. told i was either depressed, or imagining it. but got sent ot the ortho anyway.
ortho ignored the foot (which wasn't as bad then) and i was sent for an EMG of my arm. well, after they all tell me i am nuts, i was diagnosed with ulnar neuropathy. (ulna nerve running over the elbow gets inflamed and causes the tingling and numbness in my hand... mainly the pinky and that side)
well fast forward 6 months and the foot gets bad. but this time its with sciatic pain in the leg... turns out its a badly herniated disc. (which i think i have had for a while, but this was the 1st time the nerve was really getting pinched and causing the other symptoms)
so no, you're not losing it, but you can have unrelated symptoms that when you add them up can seem really weird. believe me i am living it now.
