Was it just bad luck that it happened more than once?
Did any of you go on to have children?

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I did the recurrent miscarriage panel and immune/genetic testing for both DH & I.
If they can't find anything definite with the tests, then most likely it was just bad luck. I never realized, which I do now - that 2 miscarriages are pretty common. I know my OBGYN kept reminding me of that.
We found that I had Two Copies of MTHFR ( blood clotting gene), Annexin, Protein S Deficiency. All 3 of these put me at a risk of blood clots. The Dr's think it is very unlikely that this is what has caused the m/c, b/c I have normal homocystein levels and no signs of clots during both pregnancies. It most likely was just bad luck. But to be aggressive and proactive, you still treat.
I take for this Lovenox Injections starting 2 days after Ovulation, Baby Aspirin, & Metanx ( high dose folic acid). At first it was all very overwhleming, but it really is alll pretty simple and painless.
The Dr also suggested high doses of Omega's 3 4000 mg, ( lot's of benefits and can help preventing miscarriages. It's natural So I highly recommend taking & start a few months before TTC. I take Nordic Natural's Ultimate Omega's -4 a day.
Many RE's also suggest Baby Aspirin and Progesterone after having 2 miscarriages. I am on both, even if you progesterone levels are normal ( mine were) they still like to put you on progesterone suppositories during the start of your 2ww.
Hope that helps!!! Please feel free to ask any questions!

There are quite a few graduates on this board who have had multiple miscarriages 2 or 3 and now have healthy pregnancies. Stay Positive!!! it will happen!!!
I am keeping you in my prayers!
FM me, if you have any questions.

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
Rachel thanks so much, you always make me feel more positive about all of this. I just really want answers.
Thanks for the info on Omega 3s and baby aspirin. I'm going to mention this to my dr. on Tues when I go in for my next blood test and see if she wants me to wait until I get tested for the recurring m/cs before starting on any pills.

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I had 3 losses within 6 months (last Feb, March & July). I was tested and found to have MTFHR but supposedly not the kind that causes MCs (whatever that's worth). I was put on folgard, baby aspirin and my progesterone was tested and found to be low so I took supps for that.
After my last MC in July, I started seeing an RE at the end of August and I am now 38 weeks PG from that cycle. I'm definitely not the only success story like that on this board either so there is hope.
I was glad I got tested and started seeing the RE because I felt like even if I had a 4th MC, under the care of an RE, at least he could have investigated it.
Good luck to you

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I had 2 losses - one at 23 weeks and one at 6 weeks. I was tested and found out I have MTHFR. I am on baby aspirin, Folplex (high dose of vitamin B's) and Lovenox shots. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and hoping all goes well this time around. Good luck to you

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I had 3 losses. Afer which I had every test in the book known to man. I needed an explanation. The dr nver found one ( I went to a dr that specialized in pg losses).
I then got pregnant with fraternal twins (naturally). We lost one at 10 weeks. My daughter (the surving twin) is now 2. I shortly got pregnant with identical twins who turned one in March.

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
First of all, I am so sorry for your loss.
I have had two losses, one at 6 1/2 weeks and the second at 11 weeks.
can you please tell me if you were tested and if the tests showed something was wrong? I had the recurrent loss panel done and all was normal except my NK cells.
Was it easily corrected? I have take Prednisone and Intralipids to try to "neutralize" the bad NK cells before my ET.
Was it just bad luck that it happened more than once? The doc thinks that the NK cells "attacked" the growing fetus. So hopefully that is my problem and the Pred/Intralipids treatment does the trick.
Did any of you go on to have children? I am in the process of stimming for my IVF cycle, so hopefully I can answer yes in a couple weeks.

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I had two losses in a row, 3 months apart.
First one wasnt tested, second one was. They found it to be a chromosomal issue, two copies of a chromosome. Not compatible with life. This is a very common cause of miscarriages. Just happens, nothing causes it.
Doctors felt it was just bad luck twice in a row.
I was concerned, freaked myself out that I would never be able to have a baby.
But, I now have a happy & healthy 8 month old girl.

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I've had 3 total losses between my two good pregnancies.
Can you please tell me if you were tested and if the tests showed something was wrong?
I NEVER had the recurrent miscarriage panel despite what family and people on th IF boards told me - I felt it was crap luck. DH and I DID however, have karyotype testing and nothing showed up for either one of us.
Was it easily corrected?
There was nothing to correct. Before Abby, one m/c was a chemical pregnancy, the other was never determined. Before this pregnancy, I had a D and C after there wa sno heartbeat to be seen/heard and it had been a trisomy 16 - incompatible with life - never would have made it past the first trimester. That type is rather common amongst m/c's due to chromosomal abnormalities.
Was it just bad luck that it happened more than once?
Don't know if I'd call it bad luck.
Did any of you go on to have children?
Yes. I have a 21 month old and i am currently a drop over 5 months PG with #2.
My advice to you:
Stay off the net, trust your caretakers and if you don't, get new ones who will be proactive and advocate for you.

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it! And thanks for your advice about staying off the net....I take everything I read with a grain of salt. I trust my dr. and what she recommends so I'm praying I get to have a healthy baby one day.

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I have had 3 losses. A stillbirth and a M/c at 10 weeks and one at 14 weeks.
My first loss was bad luck. An infection which caused preterm labor and I had a micropreemie , and she was too small to survive.
My second , there was no found cause.
My 3rd had Turners syndrome ( extra X chromosome).
I also had one chemical PG, which I kinda dont count. I got AF two days after 3 + PG tests, but a slew of negatives as well.
Before having my twins, I was tested for everything under the sun and I found out I had a few clotting issues, that was previously not found.
But...basically it was a long run of bad luck.
I had IF issues as well....but the bottom line of my story is it began at 21 with the loss of my daughter, and now at 35 I have 3 beautiful children, a boy and twin girls. True believer in anything can happen and lived it. It was a long sad road, but I was fortunate and blessed I never ever would have guessed this life.
Have faith, so so simple and easy for me to say though, living it is harder.
Many prayers for you

Re: Ladies who had 2 or more losses....
I have had 5 losses. High NK's, MTHFR(homozygous) and a couple of other clotting issues. I also had elevated ANA-1:320, normal is 1:40. I have also had one proven ectopic in which I lost my right tube. I have healthy twin boys as a result of IVF and immune treatments(I was on lovenox, IM progesterone, prednisone, baby asprin, vitamin e and metanx(like Folgard) )No issues during my pregnancy until the very end when i developed preeclampsia.
