Double Bubble/Pyloris Stenosis

They said my baby has a double bubble most likely caused by pyloric stenosis or duodenal atresia. My dr is scared b/c he doesnt know much about it and is scared he isnt caring for me properly. Anyone have any info on this?

Re: Double Bubble/Pyloris Stenosis

I don't know what a double bubble is, but my DS had Pyloric Stenosis and had surgery to repair it at 7 weeks. Pyloric Stenosis usually develops (if it does) about 3 weeks after birth and is most common with first born males. Please FM me with any questions. DS is absolutely fine today (and was right after his surgery as well).

Re: Double Bubble/Pyloris Stenosis

Pyloric stenosis essentially is a sphincter muscle that is too tight causing extreme vomiting. Usually presents with a baby that projectile vomits and has a "olive-like mass" in the abdomen. It's not an emergency and an IV will be placed and fluids given before surgery.

The surgery is very simple & is done very soon after child is born. It's minor & the incision is small.

Duodenal atresia is more complicated.

Your Dr should put you in touch with a peds surgeon to speak to.
