IUD and pregnant or miscarried.

Hey I don't know if this is were this post belongs but I need to vent/share.
SO I have had an IUD for a year and half and a few a days a go I took a pg test and it turned out to be positive. I had my dh check and it he saw the same thing. A few days later i passed out and my dh had to take me to er they ran blood and said my hcg levels show signs of pregnancy but it was to soon to do a ultrasound. I need to add that I also got my AF during this whole ordeal. I am now in limbo because my ob/gyn had me do blood work again to check my levels and now I have to wait. Does anyone know or have experienced this??? TIA

WOW...sorry I never went through this...I dont want to scare you but I don't think that was AF, sometimes women bleed during early pregnancy which is normal or it could be a misscarriage.


As long as your #'s are going up and doubling you should be ok. Many many for you...keep positve!!

Thanks! Unfortunately that was my thought too, the miscarriage. I just hate this waiting around, I feel like my life is on hold. My doc says if my numbers doubled then they have to make sure it isn't a tubular pregnancy...something else to worry about.

I bled during my first pregnancy. I went to the ER & they said while I had HCG in my blood it was no where near as high as it should be for somebody as pregnant as I was estimated to be. My 2nd HCG level showed my levels were falling. I had a miscarriage a few days after.

You need to have at least 2 consecutive hcg level draw to confirm a Miscarriage. I can't imagine a uterus holding a pregnancy with an IUD in place. I would very concerned of ectopic. This is very serious.

I've never experienced this, but I do know that it is possible to get pregnant with an IUD, and it doesn't necessarily mean it's an ectopic. If you are pregnant and it is still early, the IUD can be safely removed.

thank you ladies. the gyn now wants to check that the IUD is correctly in place so that i don't have to go through this ordeal again.
