Acupuncture and new to boards
After trying Metformin for six months, my doctor has suggested Clomid at this point. I'm hesitant to try Clomid and am opting for a more natural alternative - acupuncture. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences they would like to share re acupuncture. And which acus have you used? Anyone use Dr. Zhu?

What is your dx? Is age a factor? how long have you been trying?
I have never tried accupunture, but are planning to start soon for my first IVF cycle ! My doctor's thoughts "it can't hurt!"
Good Luck to you

Re: Acupuncture and new to boards
Maybemommy10 - thanks for the reply. I'm 32. I have one child already who is age 3. I have PCOS and was ovulating on metformin regularly. I conceived on metformin the first time around. I really believe I have a stress problem that's blocking my ovulation currently. I have long cycles.
Who's your doctor ? I wonder what my doc would say if I told him about acup. He'd probably say its a crock, but who cares right?
I will probably try it. Who are you using for your acup?

Re: Acupuncture and new to boards
I see Dr. B and I THINK I am going to Dr. Wang for accupuncture, mainly because he has an office close to my office (midtown) and home (LI). I believe stress plays a major factor in IF also.
Although I am intrigued by the theory behind acupuncture, I guess part of me, (the realist) is not convinced. But at this point, im desperate LOL, if my doc told me to stand on my head while singing old mcdonald had a farm, id DO IT. Do a search on here for "acupuncture" many girls have tried it and wrote "reviews" Good Luck and keep us updated !

Re: Acupuncture and new to boards
I see Andrea Huggler in Babylon (LI Holistic Health). She is incredible, and the proof is in the pudding...I am 25 weeks pregnant. I started seeing her when I started IUI. I went to RSNY and the docs there were very supportive of accupuncture. They actually happened to have a free seminar on it when I was thinking of trying it, and it turned out Andrea was the one giving it, who I was interested in working with. I used clomid on three cycles, and was getting ready for IVF on the next one, and got my BFP. I had been seeing Andrea for only like 1 1/2 to 2 months. She also had me drinking wheatgrass, herbal formulas (Heather, the other woman there is an herbalist), and I took royal jelly, as well as tried to incorporate some dietary changes. Also had me doing relaxation/visualization cd's specific for fertility. I still go for sessions every other week because it's just a great, relaxing experience. My OB's are very supportive as well.
So in case it didn't come across above, I highly recommend accupuncture! Let me know if you have any questions!
ETA: I had 2 miscarriages before this pregnancy, and have no other children. I am 38, and in addition to starting out with luteal phase issues, my FSH was starting to go up. I had heard acu, was particularly helpful with high FSH and recurrent MC, so that's how I decided to try it.

I went to LI Holistic in Babylon. I don't know if it actually helped or not, but it can't hurt and it was very relaxing.

Re: Acupuncture and new to boards
NiKs - thanks so much for that complete response. So you were on clomid and doing acu at the same time?
I started the acu today actually. Very relaxing. a little freaky when they insert needles into your abdomen. I will keep with it. See what happens.
